Pizza-Loving Destination Elopement in Sicily
The Story: Like many modern couples, Yulia and Olexander chose to elope. This couple, who hail from the Ukraine, decided on Sicily as the destination for their elopement due to its mild climate and the beauty of its historic monuments.
The Location: The elopement took place in Palermo on the Italian island of Sicily. Palermo is the Sicilian capital and was called the “Kingdom of the sun” by invading Normans in the 12th century due to its idyllic sun-drenched climate. With summers that last from April to October and mild winters, Palermo is a year-round destination.
The Vibe: Young, fun and in love bathed in warm tones reminiscent of the Sicilian climate. This elopement had a distinctly modern and unconventional vibe. We love how this couple wanted their destination elopement to be an adventure in which they explored and enjoyed all that the beautiful island of Sicily has to offer together.
The Details: Yulia and Olexander got ready in the suite of a historic building near the cathedral. This made a great backdrop for their wedding photographs. The couple also took photos in the streets of Palermo’s historic center and in the famous Piazza Pretoria, surrounded by statues of mythological Roman figures. The floral arrangement was inspired by the Italian summer – lemons and Italian fruit plant leaves. The elopement ended with the couple enjoying some pizza slices together in a local pizzeria. Perfecto!
- Why not combine your wedding and your honeymoon with a destination elopement? This wallet-friendly wedding option is perfect for adventurous couples.
- If you are considering eloping abroad, you will need to factor in time for research and planning. Also, expect the unexpected, especially if you are corresponding with vendors who speak another language. Embrace the experience, stay flexible and remember why you are there.
- Destination elopements are really all about personal experiences. The only people you have to worry about making happy are you. So if you love pizza, go for it!
