DIY DESTINATION BRIDE’S DIARY: THE PROPOSAL
It’s time to introduce you to our second real life bride for 2015! The lovely Ashlee will be tying the knot (twice – more about that later!) in May next year, and having seen this bride-to-be’s Pinterest boards I can tell you it’s going to be a very romantic affair. This month she’s sharing her engagement story and I have to say JUST LOOK AT THAT RING!!! Le sigh.
Ashlee’s story –
Hello my name is Ashlee and I am a bride-to-be… YAY! I am also a wedding photographer so I my life right now is 99.5% wedding. I am both tremendously excited and a little bit nervous about planning our perfect wedding day! Miguel my handsome and wonderful boyfriend proposed to me on Friday 12th September 2014 a.k.a. the best day of ever (so far) and one that I will remember forever.
Miguel and I have been the closest friends since we met over four years ago when I moved to Spain, we met on the first day that I stepped into the country and over the past few years our friendship eventually grew into the most wonderful relationship I could imagine. We both agree I am quite hard to please – and with Mig’s total disinterest in any type of shopping – we decided it would be best for me to choose my ring. After trolling every shop in our local high street I decided that it would be best for me to get my engagement ring made bespoke… so following my both my brother and sisters traditions we visited a boutique where I got to custom make my engagement ring, the most perfect ring I have ever seen! With the ring firmly in Miguel’s possession it was a waiting game for him to propose…
The day of Friday 12th September was just like any other. Miguel was in England for my brothers wedding and we where enjoying a blissful few days together, which are few and between since Miguel lives in Spain. Unbeknown to me while I was out doing some food shopping (i know glamorous on a friday night) Miguel had transformed our garden with large pillar candles and a bottle of champagne. After whispering the sweetest words he got down on one knee and obvs I said YES!
We then had a mini celebration with our friends and family on Skype, there where lots of happy tears and wedding ring selfies taken. That weekend was seriously perfect we then celebrated with one half of my family at my brothers wedding on the Saturday then on the Sunday we had a small swanky cocktail party with my close friends. Just a few short after the days after the wedding Mig returned to Spain work and I got working on WEDDING PLANNING which believe me is not for the faint hearted!
But more about that next time…
