DIY DESTINATION BRIDE’S DIARY: THE VENUE
Hello lovely readers,
I am excited to share my next post with you. With just under 4 months to go to the big day the pressure is on and we are in full swing with DIY projects, dress alterations and bridal beauty regimes!
For this post I wanted to share the importance of a your wedding venue. For me it was really important to pick a venue that represented us and told our guests about our heritage too.
For our legal ceremony in Bristol we chose to marry at my local place of worship where I have been going since I was a very little girl and I feel most at home, followed by a riverside reception at the harbour side in the centre. It will teach Miguel’s family about my home town and hopefully show them the nicest parts of my city.
But more important to me was the venue for the destination part of our wedding day. We are choosing to wed in the village of Miguel’s grandparents who unfortunately are no longer with us but who we both feel would be very proud to have us marry there. The village is just beautiful! Surrounded by picturesque views, and has been featured on B.LOVED Lifestyle.
Finding a venue was not easy – most places were either over priced, had no accommodation for guests to stay, or wanted us to stick to their rigid decorations (which was a BIG no, no for me, as you’ll understand if you saw my last post on my inspiration!). Finally we stumbled upon a lovely converted cigar farm, which was not only beautiful but offered all that we wanted. When we approached the owners Ellis and Nuria they were thrilled to oblige, but had never done a wedding there before so its taken a little more planning.. but we love it and enjoy popping in from time to time when we are visiting the area. Knowing that we are going to be the first couple getting married there really makes me feel special and like I have a special connection with it!
I cannot wait for our wedding day now and as I type about our dream venue it makes things even more real!
