Dotty for Dots!
Good afternoon my loves!
If you haven’t quite decided on your wedding stationery yet, then this post is for you! It’s always a pleasure to introduce you to suppliers whose products I know you’re going to love as much as I do. And I can say, hand on heart, that if you’re booking suppliers you’ve found on b.loved you are not just getting the best in terms of style and quality, but you’re also getting an unrivalled personal service.
I met Lisa from luxury wedding stationery company PaperKnots earlier this year at the London Wedding Emporium, and we’ve kept in touch ever since. Her pretty stationery is designed with love and influenced by the latest trends, resulting in a contemporary collection with a romantic style. Today, I’m so excited to launch a brand new PaperKnots design, Dotty for Dots.
Here’s what Lisa has to say about the new design ~
Dotty for Dots is a stylish and contemporary range of wedding stationery for any couple looking to bring a pop of colour and an element of fun to their wedding day. Small confetti style discs are scattered around the designs, whilst bigger circles and coloured tabs highlight key information. Brightly coloured envelopes can be lined with the ‘confetti dots’ and address labels are designed to suit with matching dotty washi tape to seal everything together.
My inspiration for this range actually came from emptying my hole punch (I know!) which was bursting with multi-coloured assorted papers. I loved the pattern it created so much I went to re-create it on my computer before I even knew what is was going to be! I guess you could say I’m a little ‘Dotty for Dots’ myself! I’m a big fan off craft products too and saw this as a perfect opportunity to bring in the pretty patterned ‘on-trend’ washi tapes too!
I also asked Lisa a few questions about her style ~
My style is… Feminine, stylish and contemporary but I don’t like to categorise myself too much as offering a bespoke wedding stationery service and graphic design for a whole variation of clients means I need a lot of flexibility.
I’m inspired by… Bold patterns, modern interiors, lovely textures and most of all colour – brights, pastels, neons, muted, love them all and could spend far too long creating new combination palettes.
My favourite piece is… I change my mind quite often on this – right now I’d have to pick the collection you are featuring today as it’s fun, fresh and really reflects my style and the direction I want to take Paperknots in.
Trends I love right now… Loving geometrics and clean modern lines – anything that allows me to introduce a bold pop of colour into a design works for me. It’s great to see printing variations becoming more popular too – letterpress, foil blocking and embossing are becoming better known and it’s always exciting when you get the opportunity to experiment with these.
I admire… I love the work from Mandy and Zoe at Dottie Creations – their design work is always stunning and even more impressively they couple this talent with amazing photography as part of Dottie Photography. I also hugely admire Abigail Warner who also creates gorgeous designs, wedding stationery and greetings cards – she is part of the Papergirls duo, which offers fab workshops for anyone new to the ‘paper design’ industry. Although a different type of design I’d also like to say Alice and Hannah from Belle and Bunty who design and create the most stunning wedding dresses as well as offering a number of high-fashion collections.
I love my job because… It’s all I ever wanted to do – and now I’m doing it for myself! My day-to-day work is so varied that I never have the same day twice. I can go from designing a corporate newsletter to a suite of wedding stationery via a Christmas card to new company branding. I’ve been lucky enough to meet some incredible people who have offered me overwhelming support and always encourage me to dream bigger.
Weddings make me… Excitable! I love meeting new couples at the start of their journey and planning ideas along with them. The moment I get a new wedding brief, my head starts spinning with creative thoughts and makes me rather giddy!
My advice for couples planning their wedding is… Try and enjoy it and plan ahead to save last minute stress. Research your suppliers – there are so many out there, so don’t just stick with the first you find – find suppliers that suit your style and fit within your budget. Don’t be afraid to look into using a wedding planner too, they know the market as well as anyone out there and can actually help save you money! If you have the time (and I say time because you can lose hours on this) look at Pinterest, it’s jam-packed with wedding ideas to suit every theme, budget and style – a great source to help kick-start the wedding ideas flowing.
Some of our very favourite designers and brands are mentioned in there… this girl clearly has style :)
