Elegant 18th Century Royal Botanical Garden Destination Wedding in Portugal
We welcome the new year with this beautiful destination wedding at Estufa Real, an 18th Century Royal Botanical garden in Lisbon, Portugal. Captured by Piteira Photography with planning by Nulyweds + Estufa Real, who share all the details below about this modern take on rustic romance!
“The decor was inspired by the regal elegance and rustic romance of the 18th-century royal botanical garden where the wedding was held. Portuguese ceramic vases in blue and white paid tribute to Lisbon’s famous azulejos, with soft gold accents adding warmth. A ceremony arch of greenery and fragrant eucalyptus held its own against the backdrop of a majestic ficus tree. An antique gold mirror served as a welcome sign and was later used as a seating plan. The garden’s resident peacocks found expression in gold candlesticks used on the tables and also in the wedding stationery. On the tables, mixed white flowers, crisp white napkins and tall white tapers stood out against pale grey tablecloths, giving a fresh, contemporary feel to the classic decor.
The colour palette took inspiration from Portugal’s blue and white azulejos. Green accents channeled the garden’s lush setting, while a pale grey tablecloth made the white napkins and flower arrangements look particularly fresh and bright. With the bride opting for a traditional white dress, the groom and bridesmaids wore navy, while men in the wedding party wore grey suits with navy ties.”
“The flowers featured a mix of seasonal white blooms, including freesia, hyacinth, tulips and peonies, with eucalyptus and greenery. They were arranged in blue-and-white Portuguese ceramic vases in various shapes and sizes, giving the decor an elegantly modern look.”
