fab find #4: introducing Janet Mohapi-Banks {amazing wedding cakes}
Easter weekend is here! I hope you are all spending the wonderful long weekend with your loved ones.
Easter is a time of celebration and feasting, and we certainly have a feast for your eyes today! When I first saw this collection from Janet Mohapi-Banks I was amazed, and a little jealous of all the UK brides who get to have one!
Janet started making cakes with her Grandmother as soon as she was old enough to sit at the kitchen table, and has now perfected her baking to produce amazing sculptural cakes that not only look, but also taste amazing. She believes (quite rightly!) that each and every wedding is unique and will create a bespoke design inspired by any element of your day, whether that be the dress, flowers, invitations or a colour scheme, so your wedding cake really is the one of your dreams.
One thing I notice about this shoot, besides the gorgeous cakes, is the beautiful styling by the very talented Stacey-Marie Chalk of Cherry Topped Bespoke Weddings. She has created a story and personality around each cake and styled each table to suit. The cake table is usually somewhat of an afterthought, you have agonised over the design and taste of the cake, think about how you are going to show it off too!
Many thanks to all the lovely ladies (and gent!) who put together this shoot. Styled by Stacey-Marie of Cherry Topped Bespoke Weddings, and photographed by the very lovely Juliet McKee of Sugar & Spice Photography. The gorgeous floral arrangements were provided by Leah & Paul, the creative duo from Wood’s Florist in Epsom, and the luxury stationery was provided by Ivy Ellen.
I just know you are going to love this!
Forget Me Not
Covered in 1,600 handmade sugar flowers, this cake takes a staggering 60 hours to make! But the result is oh-so-cute, almost too good to eat. The blue and yellow colour combination makes this the perfect inspiration for an Easter or springtime wedding!

Feather
Simple and completely elegant, ostrich feathers add a touch of understated glamour. This one’s my favourite ♥

Tiffany
Inspired by a Tiffany lamp, and with edible diamonds, this brings vintage glamour right into the 21st Century.

Addison
Soft and luxurious, unique and totally personal, with the bride & groom’s silhouette’s proudly displayed. Beats a bride & groom cake topper any day!

Falling Blossom
Understated, feminine and completely beautiful. With handmade sugar blossom flowers, a classic take on contemporary.

Bubbles
Fun, quirky and a little bit flirty, reminiscent of sixties fashion. Perfect for a retro-styled wedding.

Hearts on a String
Pure white and pure romance.

Rose
Rose is Janet’s signature cake, covered in approximately 300 hand-pulled and hand coloured roses, this cake is truly STUNNING!

Janet is a recommended supplier to The Dorchester Collection, The May Fair Hotel and St James’ Hotel & Club in Mayfair, London. She is also very proud to be recommended by The Ritz London, an extraordinary achievement which is totally deserved.
A big thank you to Janet for sharing her cakes with us today! I’m looking forward to one of these popping up in a real wedding very soon, which one would you choose?
Oh my goodness – this is total eye candy!
These cakes are so gorgeous I would feel too bad to eat them – they are works of art!
