In Part-Two of today’s From the Poolside Takeover, Stéphanie is sharing her favourite French wedding venues for an intimate wedding…

Being French, naturally I wanted to get married in my home country.  It’s countryside venues offer everything you can get in the UK with the added French je ne sais quoi!  However, it’s important to remember you can only have humanist or non-religious ceremonies in venues in France.  You have to be legally married first, either in the UK, or in a French City Hall.  It all depends what’s most important to you!

Chateau Rigaud, Bordeaux

  • Up to 120 guests
  • Sleeps up to 22 people
  • An absolute delight of a French chateau in the middle of the Bordeaux vineyard, Chateau Rigaud does both small and bigger weddings. It is run by an English couple so you don’t have to worry about language barriers. Anna, the owner, is very helpful and the styling and cooking teams always deliver beautiful creations.

Chateau de la Couronne, Dordogne

  • Sleeps up to 26 people

Since we stayed here a few years ago, the owners of this very French chateau between Dordogne and Charente have had many weddings with clients from all over the world. The modern design of the bedrooms and lounges sits very well within the old walls and there are many spaces to entertain your guests. Gardens, pool, cinema room, games room will make sure that the party is on before and after the big day.

Their approach is particularly friendly. As Mark the owner says “People have to be able to relax here when they have their family with them, and I think that starts with the welcome you get and the attitude of the owners and staff. If we are relaxed, the guests can be relaxed too.”

You can see more of this venue featured in Caroline & Ned’s French Fairytale Wedding on B.LOVED.

This magnificent 18th century manor house located at the heart of the Cote d’Azur countryside is a luxurious blank canvas for your wedding. Your family can have a brilliant time using the large swimming pool and ‘boules piste or relaxing in the beautifully adorned and very French bedrooms.

Meanwhile, you can plan the wedding of your dreams on the huge terraces or gardens; La Bastide can advise on excellent French caterers and recommend one of their very expert independent wedding planners.

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
