FROM THE POOLSIDE TAKEOVER: INTIMATE WEDDING VENUES IN THE UK
Good morning! I’m so thrilled today to share our very first B.LOVED Takeover, where we’ll be welcoming our favourite bloggers to take over B.LOVED for a whole day! First up is French travel blogger, Stéphanie from From the Poolside, an avid B.LOVED reader, newly-wed, and lover of luxe & lovely destinations around the world. See why we’re fans?!
Hi B.LOVED readers! I’m Stéphanie, a French boutique hotel-lover living in London. On my blog, From the Poolside I help style-loving women find gorgeous holiday places combining French chic + interior design flair + family friendly service. B.LOVED is one of my favourite blogs for all things stylish and I was lucky enough to benefit from Louise’s creative help with a mood board for our intimate wedding last October.
We always knew an intimate wedding would be our kind of celebration, and in October 2014, this is exactly what we had in a lovely boutique hotel which became our special place for an extended weekend party with our loved ones. There are many benefits to an intimate wedding: you don’t have to argue too long over who to invite, you can reduce costs, and you get to enjoy the day fully as you have more time to spend with each guest!
I came across many beautiful places during my venue search. In order to help those of you now starting to plan your wedding, Louise has let me take over B.LOVED for the day. This morning I’ll be sharing my UK shortlist followed by my favourite French venues this afternoon. This was our criteria:
- In the UK or France
- Accommodation for around 25 people
- Licensed to hold wedding ceremonies
- Unique location
- Lovely boutique feel
- Up to 150
- Sleeps up to 35 people
- All the ground floor rooms of the Hotel are licensed for civil ceremonies including the Parterre garden and the Little Shell House
This is where we got married in October. We knew Hotel Endsleigh having stayed there before twice. The setting is just splendid. Set in acres and acres of beautiful gardens with a river flowing through them; the typically English manor has 16 bedrooms, all beautifully decorated.
With the ability to run both intimate and bigger weddings and many areas for celebrating the ceremony, Endsleigh offers it all. The service and attention to your planning is absolutely stellar, making you feel both pampered and at home.
- Up to 30 Guests
- Sleeps up to 24 people
- Llicensed for civil ceremonies in the White Room in the Peacock Garden, or church only 5 minutes walk from the house
A beautiful Cotswold stone building and award-winning gardens make Temple Guiting a very attractive proposition. Rooms are spread between two buildings so you can have the bride’s family in one and the groom’s family in the other one!
They have a catering service and mostly everything is provided, except for the dining chairs which you would have to rent.
- Up to 70 guests
- Sleeps up to 16 people (but extra accommodation available at Dormy House)
- Licensed for civil ceremonies in the Ballroom
This is a sister property to acclaimed boutique hotel and spa Dormy House in the Cotswolds so you can accommodate your closed ones in Foxhill Manor but can have a greater party staying in the hotel. A ballroom for the ceremony and diner, lounges to relax, a media room for the kids and a ladies ‘room for you and your bridesmaids provide the perfect setting for your own very private ceremony.
- Up to 100 guests (standing canape reception) or 60 for seated reception
- Sleeps 16 in Thyme house and 18 more in 5 cottages (plus 2 children)
- Licenced for wedding ceremonies either in the Tithe Barn or the Saxon church
The Cotswolds give us yet another lovely house in the form of a 15th Century Manor House which comes with its own church. The house looks like a boutique hotel and you can use the Tithe barn for your celebration. In-house chefs and a wedding planner make the organisation of your big day a stylish and relaxing affair.
- Up to 30 guests in the Conservatory or 60 in the Dining Room
- Sleeps 24
- Licenced for wedding ceremonies in the Conservatory (with doors opening onto the garden)
Perfectly situated for those of you living around Bristol, Bath or London, the Rectory Hotel. This beautiful, elegantly furnished period house is set in three acres of Cotswold stone walled garden. When taken over exclusively you have the run of the house and gardens with a team of professional staff at your disposal. And if you do it in the summer, there is even a pool!
Be sure to pop back this afternoon when I’ll be sharing my favourite French wedding venues.
