Gorgeous Greek Villa Elopement: Nick & Jess
The Story: Nick and Jess originally booked a May elopement in Lefkada, Greece but had to postpone due to Covid travel restrictions. They rebooked but had their flights cancelled a further two times leaving them feeling like their dream of an intimate family elopement was never going to happen. But it did and the team from Lefkas Weddings were on hand to make sure this beautiful family had the perfect intimate wedding celebration.
The Location: Villa Orizontas in Lefkada, Greece. Perched above Kathisma beach, this contemporary, light-filled villa built with local island stone has an almost 360 degree panoramic view of the Ionian Sea. The villa is surrounded by plants and herbs which creates an amazing aroma around the property during the summer months.
The Vibe: Getting ready was a family affair with Nick looking after Lola whilst older sister Molly was a true bridesmaid helping her mummy with her dress. As Nick and Jess requested a morning ceremony, the team organised a delicious wedding brunch filled with local delicacies including tasty local pastries and breads, little pots of Greek yoghurt, fresh fruit, Lefakda honey and melopita (honey pie). After the brunch, they spent the rest of the day relaxing with the girls in the secluded privacy of the villa.
The Details: The ceremony décor and Jess’s bouquet used olive and gypsophila to blend with the surroundings. Our bride chose to wear bridal separates which included a soft billowing skirt and delicate lace top (see B’LOVED’s 20 Hottest Bridal Separates). The bride and bridesmaids’ hair ties and corsages were handmade by a friend of the bride for a personalised touch.
- Nick and Jess wanted to be able to include their daughter’s in their wedding ceremony. They organised a sand ritual which involves the pouring of sand and shells, which the family had collected together before the wedding, into a keepsake bottle.
- Jess wanted their wedding cake to have a hat tip to Greece, the place where they had chosen to get married. The traditional Ravani, orange semolina cake, was recreated as a bright and scrumptious modern naked-style cake.
- The big day can pass by so quickly. Remember to take the time to stop and enjoy the moment. Jess and NIck did exactly this, sitting together with a glass of bubbles to celebrate their long-awaited union.
