Ladies, prepare to swoon! If you’re getting married we guarantee you’ll fall in love with Hermione Harbutt’s exquisite collection of bridal accessories (the pearls, the crystals, the diamonds!!), as today we get to step inside her beautiful new Kensington boutique.  Light and bright, it’s the perfect canvas to show off all Hermione’s pieces, you’ll want to try everything!  Thanks so much to photographer Amy Fanton for popping in to capture the pretty, and finding out more from the lady herself…

Hermione Harbutt creates exquisite, award-winning headdresses and jewellery renown for exceptional quality craftsmanship and originality of design. Every Hermione Harbutt piece is individually handmade in the London and Bristol showrooms with meticulous attention to detail, love and care using pearls, Swarovski crystals and gemstones.

How did you get started in the industry? I have always been a creative person, designing and making things since childhood. I started creating jewellery whilst still at university, mostly pearl jewellery as this was my favourite medium to work with. From there I specialised in bridal jewellery and began creating the headdress designs for which I am now best known for.

What do you think has made your business successful? Hermione Harbutt is recognised for uniqueness in design, the high calibre craftsmanship with which pieces are created and the exceptional service provided to Hermione Harbutt clients. These three key elements are the of the utmost importance.

Where do you work and how do you keep your workspace inspiring? At Hermione Harbutt I am lucky enough to have two beautiful showrooms, the gorgeous HQ in Bristol where it all began and our new London showroom which recently opened due to the high demand of London brides requesting appointments. I travel between both showrooms to ensure that I can personally see brides in both locations. Working in such a lovely environment and constantly surrounded by beautiful things means we are continually inspired whilst we work. We keep a close eye on current bridal and fashion trends with mood boards adorning the walls of the work spaces. Brides keep us feeling inspired with bespoke design requests, meaning we are continually creating fresh and exciting signature pieces.

Tell us more about the new London showroom! Set amongst a pretty row of independent boutiques, our new showroom is based in Kensington, a stone’s throw from Kensington Palace and a 2 minute walk from High Street Kensington tube. It is such a gorgeous space, lots of light and row upon row of beautiful accessories to see and try on, our idea of heaven! We are open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm and brides are welcome to call in any time, although we would recommend booking an appointment on a Saturday! You can find us at 5 Kensington Church Walk, Kensington, London, W8 4NB.

How would you describe your style? The Hermione Harbutt style is luxurious, vintage inspired and infinitely feminine. I am hugely passionate about my work and aim to exceed the expectations of every one of my brides, offering the very personal and friendly service for which we are renown. The bespoke design service gives the option for brides to create pieces to their exact specifications resulting in couture accessories that are unique, of the highest quality and, most importantly, utterly loved by the brides who choose them.

What inspires you when you are designing? Inspiration for new designs comes from many different sources; current fashion trends and styles, nature and organic forms. I’ve always been fond of past eras and fashion trends, especially the 1920s – 1950s. I love vintage styles but with an up-to-date fashion feel. Nature has been a constant inspiration; the intricate details of flowers, leaves and tendrils feature heavily in my designs, and give a soft, feminine feel to my work. Once an idea for a new design is forming I start to focus on the materials to use and the way the piece will sit. From there I start to create the piece, often altering the design as I progress. Once happy with the final design, this lovely new piece is added to the collection in the boutiques and we start to show it to our brides. Each piece really is a labour of love!

Do you pay attention to trends? It is important to keep on the pulse of what is going on in the bridal industry and the sort of pieces that brides are choosing to wear but whilst we like to keep abreast of trends we do not focus too heavily on them. I like to design new and unique designs, so whilst these may have a nod towards current trends I mostly stay true to my signature Hermione Harbutt style.

Soft colours are starting to play a major part in bridal style, which will definitely continue through into 2016.. Here at Hermione Harbutt, brides are becoming more confident to include delicate pastel tones into their accessories and you will see lots of these hues in our latest collections, with Forget Me Not blues, blush pinks and soft golds.

Whats your favourite piece? That’s such a hard question to answer, it’s like trying to choose between favourites!  I have to admit that as I have designed and made every piece in the collection I feel sentimental about all of them and each piece holds lovely memories of all the lovely brides who have worn them and were designed specifically for them. There are so many pieces I love, each one for different reasons, which constantly changes. Every day I walk into the showroom and I have a new favourite!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
