inspiration #41: tangerine tango ~ spring
I’d been patiently waiting for Pantone to reveal their 2012 colour of the year, and when they finally did I have to admit I let out a little squeal! Their choice, Tangerine Tango, a bold & bright red-orange is certainly a brave one, and at first thought you are probably thinking there is no way I’m using that colour at my wedding! But think again! 18 months ago, when I started my wedding planning, I would have said exactly the same thing. Then along came this colour called orange, and everything about my summer wedding plans came together! To read more about my new-found love of orange, my inspiration and how it all came together at our wedding, click here.
Bright colours are going to be big in 2012 weddings, with the world tightening it’s belt against recession and financial crisis, colour is a cheap and easy way to inject some fun and energy into your celebration.
Orange is a dynamic colour, it’s creative and playful which makes it a great, and unusual pick for a fun summer wedding. Pale orange colours, like peach, coral and apricot are elegant, are toned down choices that coordinate well with brighter hues to make a beautiful wedding colour palette for spring or early summer. Orange is often associated with the heat of the sun, a warm and welcoming colour associated with enjoyment and celebration. Richer oranges, rust and pumpkin are the perfect hues for autumn weddings, the celebration of harvest and a more relaxed, rustic scheme.
So, today I want to inspire you to consider Tangerine Tango in your wedding plans in not one, but THREE different ways taking you through the seasons and showing you how to use the brightest of colours whatever time of year your wedding is!
This morning, let’s take a look at using this colour for a springtime wedding. Bright & fresh but a little cooler than summer, this palette combines soft pastels with pops of brighter tones. This style of colour combination is set to be a huge trend for 2012, already seen on the catwalks and making it’s way into weddings this year. Petals and soft textures create a delicate feel, balancing the brighter colours.
Pop back around lunchtime to see my second tangerine tango board, for summer. Oh, and while you’re waiting for that, why not read all about my relaunch giveaway and enter to win some amazing prizes?!
