inspiration board #44: citrus spring

Good morning you lovely lot! I hope you’ve all had a fabulous weekend? I’ve been busy getting in touch with all the lovely b.loved giveaway winners and am buzzing with inspiration for the various shoots and styling that I’m going to be working with in the next few months!  I was so excited to see so many of the entries come from newly-engaged brides, Christmas and New Year proposals are so full of romance and promise!

With the depths of winter slowly feeling a little further away, and the bulbs beginning to peek out of the soil a little early this year, I am feeling ready for spring!  To me, spring is a clean, fresh and pretty season, delicate flowers starting to bloom, new fresh green grass covered in early morning dew, the perfect time to start a new life with the love of your of life!  Citrus spring is inspired by this newness, using lemon yellow and lime green to create a clean and fresh modern palette, with a hint of pretty coming from those early spring flowers, lush roses and dainty daisies.  Yellow and green are also fun, happy colours, adding to the celebratory feel of your day,who wouldn’t want to receive a bright and sunny yellow wedding invitation in the post, and see pops of cheery colour throughout your reception decor?  Simple touches like coloured napkins or glassware can add a vibrant pop of colour to a simple tablescape,  and citrus fruits create stunning table centres, a budget-friendly way to add something different to your decor, whether used whole or sliced.  The simplicity of this modern wedding cake with lemon drops is also a fun and new way to bring some unexpected colour into your day!

Yellow is one of my favourite colours for spring and summer weddings, and with the prediction that we’re going to see brighter colours popping up in 2012 weddings I think this is a great choice! What do you think? Have you chosen a bright and sunny palette for your wedding?

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
