inspiration board #68: modern metallics

Morning Chica’s! What have you lovely ladies been up to this weekend? Wedding season is picking up as we head into the middle of summer, so perhaps you’re busy putting together all those final details and working out just how your dream day will look?  I spent the weekend busy working on the styling for both Christine Meintjes photography workshop and The Pretty Blog inspiration workshop events next month, both are going to be filled with beautiful ideas! Brides who are in the midst of planning should check out The Pretty Blog workshop. After following the tweets and pics from the first one held this weekend in sunny Cape Town, I can tell you are going to be in for a real treat when they visit London on 21st July! I also got the chance to hang out with the lovely Sangeeta from Olivier Laudus over brunch, and pop into their West End studio to check out some of their sparkles!

Perhaps that’s what inspired this week’s palette, a unusual combination of metallics that come together to make a striking modern scheme.  These colours, whether matt or shiny, just scream celebration!  With a few delicate details and carefully considered flowers with touches of white and papery silver foliage, we create a pretty and romantic look that isn’t too harsh or overpowering.  Our beautiful bride wears a beautiful pearlescent dress with dainty metallic details, a contrasting colour headpiece gives a hint of what’s to come.  Bridesmaids in glittering gold and bronze shimmer in the sunlight and sparkle under the twinkling lights after dark.  A modern elegant venue, an art gallery, or the clean white interior of a modern marquee would be the perfect setting for this understated glamorous wedding, with contemporary crystal chandeliers and glassware adding reflection and sparkle to every table laid with sparse decor in bold metallics to great effect.  Liven up a dull corner with a grown up candy bar and dessert canapé station, for a sophisticated end to your soirée!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
