inspiration board #74: a midsummer night’s dream

Morning lovely ones! How was your weekend?  I spent lots of it glued to the TV cheering on our sporting hero’s Jess Ennis, Mo Farah and Victoria Pendleton to Gold! On Saturday I spent the afternoon with clients at the prettiest bakery in town, the Peggy Porschen Parlour.  If you haven’t been yet, I suggest you do, if only to try the delicious strawberry champagne cupcakes! {read more here}

Over the past few weeks I’ve also been working on a few tweaks and improvements to b.loved!  A couple of months ago wrote this post on finding my focus, and this is the first step I’m taking to improving b.loved for you.  First up,  we’ve changed our tagline to…

Over the past 8 months since the b.loved launch, I have been working and developing the b.loved brand and ethos with some exciting new announcements still to come! Our ongoing aim is to bring you the very best pretty and contemporary weddings, ideas and inspiration out there!  The ‘About‘ page has been updated with new information, and the submissions and sponsorship pages are next, with a brand new media pack available by the end of the week!  Finally, for all you wedding obsessed ladies, I’ve finally installed a lovely little ‘pin it’ button which means you can pin images straight to your pinterest boards simply by hovering over them and clicking on the pin it button!  I apologise in advance for the hours you’re going to lose pinning ;)

Back to this morning, and I have a bit of a surprise inspiration board to share with you! It’s not the board I set out to bring you this morning, I had a dreamy, romantic lilac palette in mind, but as I added images it evolved into this gorgeous, whimsical theme that reminded me of Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

“I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where ox-lips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine”

It’s a classic tale of love, one that some people believe may have even been written for a wedding, with such strong visual themes and beauty that translate perfectly into a woodland wedding scene.  With an abundance of rich, jewel-coloured florals in purple, fuschia and lilacs, with lush green trailing foliage, this scheme combines opulence with a relaxed boho vibe.    I’m imaging an outdoor ceremony under the forest canopy, with lanterns and garlands hanging from the trees while guests are seated on tree stump stools.  A gorgeous stationery suite, with natural, rustic elements like the bark-effect invite in this suite, hint at a wedding out of the ordinary.  A floral headpiece is a must, with bold blooms giving way to softer foliage, working together with the bridesmaid’s bouquets.  Embrace the theme with your little ones, let your flower girls live their dream of being fairy princesses for the day, with floral headpieces and tulle skirts. Bring natural elements on to the tables with birch tree vases and an abundance of woodland moss and foliage, giving the flowers more impact, and intersperse with candlesticks for a soft evening glow.

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
