inspiration board #82: lilac dreams

Happy Monday b.loved ladies! I hope there were lovely weekend’s had all round? I spent most of it surrounded by packing boxes! Yes, we’re moving house soon (just got to sign the last dotted line) and I can’t wait to get the keys to our new home.  My pinterest is already full of ideas and inspiration for our new space, and I can’t wait to get stuck in to making it our dream home!

Sometimes being a wedding blogger can be a lonely job, it’s not all launch parties and cupcakes you know ;) So when you get in touch to tell me about your wedding plans, ask for advice and inspiration I get very excited!  Bride-to-be Lynsey emailed last week to ask me for some ideas for her late summer Scottish wedding next year.  With a dreamy palette of lilac, dove grey and silver (inspired by the colours of her bedroom) I couldn’t wait to get started! Her style is understated elegance, and although she loves hydrangea and baby’s breath, wasn’t quite sure how to combine these rustic flowers into her elegant vision.  So Lynsey, here are my ideas!

To suit her classic style, Lynsey has picked a sleek and elegant wedding dress (sorry no sneak peeks!)  that would look beautiful accessorised with a simple hydrangea bouquet, take the leaves off and bind with a coordinating ribbon for a clean and contemporary look.  Bridesmaids in a soft lilac blue coordinate perfectly with grey suited groomsmen, and carry sweet baby’s breath bouquet’s of cloud-like domes.  For stationery, I would choose something simple and neutral, luxurious letterpress sealed inside crisp white envelopes with just a hint of colour peeking out from the lining.  Lynsey’s reception venue has tall ceilings, so needs some height on the tables.  Rather than tall arrangements that are out of eyesight when sitting down, I would use tall candlesticks and candelabra to fill the void, and low level arrangements of hydrangea and roses to add colour and interest for her guests, while soft grey linen, crystal glassware and simple place settings complete the look.

Lynsey also asked about ideas for chair cover alternatives, something I know a lot of you are after! So rather than include just one idea today, I’ll follow up later this week in our Thursday Trend!

I hope you like your board Lynsey, and I hope it will help with your planning!  If you’re stuck on inspiration, or need some help pulling your ideas together email me with your ideas and I’ll create your very own board!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
