inspiration board #89: emerald & cranberry

Happy Monday my loves! With just over a week to go until the ‘big day’ I thought I should squeeze in one festive inspiration board.  Using the hottest colour for 2013 (according to Pantone at least!) this emerald green and cranberry scheme is festive and classic, combining traditional colours with a rustic twist.  For a winter wedding this palette adds warmth to any venue, but would work particularly well in the rich interiors of a country hotel or even pub, with real log fires burning and adding to the cosy atmosphere.  I also love the idea of a Christmas barn wedding, with twinkling lights adorning the rafters and a few more rustic touches to create a relaxed festive vibe.  Of course no celebration, especially over the holiday season, is complete without food and drink, so this features heavily throughout this board!  From delicious cranberry red cocktails, spiked with winter herbs for a spicy warming touch, to a raspberry and pistachio topped cake, bringing in the colours with a homemade touch.

I love the idea of quite informal invitations, using kraft paper and elegant red illustrations, or glassine envelopes containing all the information for the day sealed with a festive pop of red washi tape that peeks through the paper giving a tempting insight as to what is contained inside.  Despite what you might think, there is still a huge choice of flowers even for winter weddings, so forget heavy red roses and speak to your florist about lighter alternatives, tulips, lilies and anemones are a great contemporary choice.  Offer your guests festive favours, beautifully wrapped gifts in your colour palette lift the table decoration, and after all opening presents brings out the child in all of us!

Are you getting married over the Christmas period? How are you incorporating a festive touch into your day?

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
