An interview with Wedding Planner Kelsey of Stone and Co.
We’re delighted to introduce you to the wonderful Wedding Planner Kelsey of Stone and Co. with her beautiful brand shoot at the B.LOVED Hive studio in London, captured by fine art photographer, Helen Warner Photography. With a passion for elegant weddings with a contemporary touch, Stone and Co. loves inspiration from stylish weddings as well as timeless designs. We have an exclusive interview with Kelsey for you too!
Tell us about your work, what is your style?
Stone & Co. is a bespoke wedding planning and design business that creates contemporary and elegant events for modern couples. Drawing inspiration from fashion and interior design, we aim to balance ‘timeless’ with ‘trendy’ and bring it all together for an exceptional and unforgettable experience.
What are your favourite wedding trends at the moment?
I’m a huge fan of the modern and minimalist Scandinavian influence on weddings right now, especially as I’m half Norwegian and grew up with that ‘Scandi-Chic’ aesthetic. The clean lines and neutral tones combined with rich foliage, soft textures and cool geometrics always look so fresh and effortless.
Do you have any trend predictions for 2018 weddings?
As couples aim to achieve a more modern contrast to the classic white wedding, I expect to see darker colours, such as black, navy and plum to be trendy for weddings in 2018. There’s been a lot of ingenuity with floral design this past year so I predict we’ll see more trends like hanging installations, living walls, and floral frames and it’s likely that couples will continue to choose less traditional catering options, and opt for food stations or a custom tasting menu instead.
What are the favourite parts of your job as a wedding planner?
I really love working with my clients create the initial wedding concept and design. Helping couples design a wedding that truly captures their love story and personalities is such an incredibly fun and creative process and then being able to bring their vision to reality is such a rewarding and magical experience. I also love the moment when the bride enters to walk down the aisle; I have to hold back tears every time!
What’s your advice for couples who are looking for a wedding planner?
My advice for couples looking to hire a wedding planner is to make sure they are the right fit for you and your wedding as most planners offer different styles and services. It’s useful to think about what type of service you’re looking for before you hire a planner, whether it be ‘On The Day Coordination’ or ‘Full Planning’ as this will help you find the right person and guide you when asking questions. As your planner will be coordinating one of the most important events of your life and spending a lot of time with you and your partner, it’s essential that your planner is someone thatyou feel comfortable and confident with, especially if you are feeling a little overwhelmed or stressed. I’d also recommend speaking with a few different planners before making your final decision – we want our clients to be right for us as much as we want to be right for them!
What does 2018 look like for you?
As Stone & Co. just launched last month, 2018 is our very first year as a business and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m currently finalising the design brief for a styled shoot to take place in early spring and I’ve just booked our first wedding for summer 2018. I’m really looking forward to a lot of continued collaboration and growth within the wedding industry and can’t wait to see what this next year brings.
