Late Summer Dutch Garden Micro-Wedding

Wester-Amstel is one of the few country estates in the immediate area surrounding the city of Amsterdam. This monumental house dating back to 1662 is a magnificent historic building that is renowned amongst the city’s residents.

The outdoor areas of the estate were the setting for this wedding. The property has a number of tranquil gardens, majestic avenues and long walking paths which create the feeling of a countryside oasis with urban proximity.

This styled shoot took full advantage of this gorgeous location. The team created a charming summer garden wedding taken right out of a rural fairytale.

The location of this late summer garden shoot was carefully scouted by the photographer, Alena Shevchenko, and the videographers at Timo & Kay Films. They planned the celebration  to take advantage of the natural lighting so that they could capture the best possible photographs throughout the day.

The bride’s vintage Victorian-Edwardian style wedding dress had delicate ruffled detailing on the back which made for a playful yet romantic lookperfect for a garden wedding setting.

Given the summery garden setting, yellow hues were chosen as the primary colour for this event’s palette. Yellow expresses warmth and happiness and creates a vibrant atmosphere. Combined with the natural golden tones of the sun, this colour palette created a rich and elegant look reminiscent of Baroque-style interiors.

A romantic table for four was set up between the trees with a wonderful view over the surrounding landscape. The table’s floral arrangements, made by Elenastylz, used florals from the late summer harvest. These were combined with modern plates from Représentable. These plates came from the Golden Glister collection and were chosen for their delicate golden detailing.

The cake positioned on an elegant 19th Century French Louis XV Style table was decorated with gold and edible flowers, and filled with pear jam and vanilla cream. This was served with macarons and edible flower lollipops, served on pink handmade coasters.

  • Scout the location together with your photographer to find the ideal lightning for different points throughout the day.
  • Working with different fabrics and tones of the same color is a fantastic way to incorporate various textures and dynamics into the ceremony.
  • Make use of the location and everything that the surroundings have to offer.
