Lin He Yu + Marijn’s Fine Art Beach Engagement Shoot
If you’re looking for inspiration for your engagement session, you’ll love this beautiful shoot captured by Raisa Zwart Photography. With a simple and serene setting which gives you lots of lovely lighter colour tones, as well as making use of the lovely natural light. Lin He Yu and Marijn wore smart-casual outfits which complimented each other so well, and professional hair and makeup by Marianne of The Beautiful Bride Company. We love the pretty braided hair she created! Marianne says, “You’ll want your make up to show how beautiful you are, to reflect your individual style. It will ensure and help you to feel confident and it will definitely show. So really consider hiring a professional make-up and hair artist that you connect with – its so important.”
We asked fine art photographer, Raisa for her expert advice about engagement sessions and how couples can feel comfortable and confident; “To see a couple bloom in front of the camera is just one of the best feelings there is. Being in front of a camera is not something most of us do on a daily base. And to be intimate with your partner in front of one is even more of a big deal. I think there’s a big role for photographers to step up here, and make it happen: to make couples feel at ease to ensure the most beautiful results. It’s about creating magic together.
So… how does this happen? How can you feel comfortable in front of the camera and how can you help as a photographer? The first thing I plan is the time, I make sure there’s enough time for a shoot. Enough time to get to know each other, some time to do some small talk before starting with the shoot. I give my couples a kind of pep talk. I tell them what we’re going to do, where and how I expect nothing from them but to have fun. I use gentle words to guide them and tell them how pretty they look. We have fun, they get to fully enjoy each others company while I photograph them the way they are. The being in front of the camera get easier and easier and that’s how I create a series like this one.”
