LOUISE & EUGENE’S EFFORTLESSLY ROMANTIC ENGAGEMENT SHOOT
This morning we are sharing a beautiful engagement shoot captured by one of our favourite photographers, based in Cape Town, the very talented Dehan Engelbrecht. The happy couple are Louise and Eugene who have known each other since high school.
Their shoot took place in the fresh South African bushveld in summer. Louise wore a pretty floral dress of pale greens and browns that perfectly suits the natural style of the shoot and the grassy plains and leafy shrubs in their chosen location. In her hair she wore a dainty green leaf crown. I love the way the touch of blue in her dress highlights her sparkling blue eyes as she beams with pure happiness.
Dehan has captured the natural connection between Louise and Eugene and with such a simple backdrop, this is an effortlessly romantic engagement shoot.
Louise tells us a bit about the shoot and location;
On the day of the shoot it was warm weather and we were driving for about half an hour in an air conditioned car, before finding the perfect spot for the photos. It was extremely hot when we stepped out of the car, so much so, that we all enjoyed an ice cold beer before we went any further.
And shares how they met and their story so far;
Our story began in high school where I knew him, and he knew me. We had friends in the same circles. We had parties at the same places. But the real story with us started after we both went to different universities. He worked on a farm in Limpopo, and me, the busy bee photographer. In between our own adventures, became the adventure with each other. We went for a few coffee dates and before I knew it two amazing years with him came forever the day he asked me to marry him. Such a blessing. Â
The most memorable memory of our love story so far, is definitely the day Eugene asked me to marry him. It was at exactly the same spot where our new adventure and big day will be. Our wedding venue on the farm, Bordeaux.Â
Â
The story behind the story will be that I didn’t suspect a thing. I’m still laughing about it actually. Just before sunset he phoned and told me to meet him outside, that we should quickly go for a drive. I was wearing my farm booties, really not the best outfit after a days work in my vegetable garden and also not paying attention at all to this “drive”. Soon after he picked me up he told me to look left… “look left you’ll see the Impala”… little did I know that a gorgeous table full of snacks and champagne where waiting for me.
When I got out of the car he was dressed in smart clothes and smiling like I’ve never seen him smile before. After tears and more smiles, he got down on his knee and popped the question just before sunset. It is a memory that will definitely stick with me forever. Â
