love shoot #22: city sweethearts {claire & ben}

This morning, I’m excited to introduce a new photographer to Bijoux Bride, the talented Yolande de Vries of Rings ‘n Veils, and we’re sharing a fabulous two-part story with you today!

First up is Claire & Ben’s pre-wedding shoot in the gritty surrounds of the Southbank, followed this afternoon by their elegant wedding at Leez Priory.

Claire & Ben are high-school sweethearts, and have such a sweet love story to share with you!

Wet met at school via my sister Sarah and dated for 6 months. This was at an age where neither of us knew ourselves let alone the other. It was destined to fail and as predicted (and as I like to tease Ben on occasions) he broke my heart.

However, 19 years passed with only the occasional glimpses on trains into London, we got back in touch – all thanks to Facebook!  I was set to go travelling for 6 months round South East Asia and Australasia, and needed a way of keeping in touch with friends and family.  Whilst setting up my account (something I was loathed to do because I’d heard how time zapping FB could be) I noticed that Sarah was friends with Ben. What would it hurt to send him a friend request I thought?  10 minutes after clicking send along came the first of many emails between us.

Despite a tentative start (as we were both conscious of my forthcoming trip), we just couldn’t help falling in love all over again.  We missed each other hugely whilst I was on the other side of the world, so I was so elated when Ben arranged time off with work and flew out to meet me in New Zealand for 5 glorious weeks.  Mid-way through our camper-tastic trip we found ourselves in Napier, the Art Deco Capital of the World, where Ben dropped to one knee and proposed.  The restaurant was packed and he received a riotous round of applause from the other patrons and an ecstatic YES! from me. Quite how he managed to keep the ring hidden and safe for over 2 weeks I’ll never know.  Ben is really romantic; he asked my family if he could have my hand in marriage before he joined me and he also had my beautiful engagement ring handcrafted to his specification; he got it spot on!

Don’t miss Claire & Ben’s wedding this afternoon, there’s a lovely story about how they chose their venue, and some gorgeous country garden details!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
