love shoot #30: rockin’ retro {styled shoot}

Morning, how are you this sunny Tuesday?  I have some really exciting things going on this week, and I can’t wait to share them with you!

First up, it’s just one day to go until the much-anticipated Love My Dress Summer Soiree, organised by the lovely Annabel over at LMD!  If you haven’t heard about it yet, you can read all about it here, but essentially it’s an excuse for lots of wedding obsessed peeps to meet up, cocktail in hand, and chat weddings!  I’m excited to meet some of the fabulous people I have ‘met’ on twitter for real, and hopefully some new faces that I can share with you right here! The fun starts on the train on the way up to Newcastle (yup this lovely lady is making us venture out of the London bubble!) so I’ll be sure to tweet some of the goings on throughout the day.

Secondly, I had a super exciting weekend working on a special little project that I’m hoping to be able to share with you sometime in the not-too-distant future (teaser alert ;))

Lastly, but by no means least, I have a rocking shoot to share with you today!  Liesl Cheney is one of my blogging buddies, I love catching up with her over coffee and chatting about our latest projects, weddings and married life!  For this shoot she teamed up with fellow South African photographer Shirley Gilks, and together they captured this cute and fun couple in a retro-themed diner!

I am completely in love with the styling. The prom-style wedding dress with the  cherry red sash is so striking, and teamed with the little red heart shoes makes an adorable retro outfit.  The pops of red that appear in the grooms outfit, the heart topped sundae and the bouquet are just gorgeous.  Oh, how amazing is the bouquet made out of old coke cans?  The ultimate American icon!

The couple in this shoot, Andries & Jenni, are not models (I know, they had me fooled too) but an actual real in love couple with a sweet story!

I never expected to meet my soul mate at the tender age of 16.  We first laid eyes on each other at our high school Valentine’s ball and started dating a couple months later.  12 years later and we are still completely besotted with each other and very happily in love.

From day one we were the perfect fit, we complement each other so well.  I am so blessed to have shared the most important milestones in our young adult lives with Andries.  From nerve wrecking driving lessons to extended home trips across South Africa.  From that first youthful date to tying the knot seven years later, under a perfect African sky on a September afternoon.  From getting that first job to setting up shop in London, the place we now call home.  It has been an absolute wonderful time and I cannot wait to see what future journeys we get to discover together.  We are both so lucky and blessed that we have lived, laughed and loved together.

Don’t you just want to grab your other half and go share an ice cream sundae?!

Big love to Liesl and Shirley for sharing their work, and to Andries & Jenni for being super models and sharing their story with us

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.

This morning we’ve been swooning over the most romantic Valentine’s proposal a
