love shoot #57: fabulous forties {styled shoot}

Morning lovelies!

First up I’d like to extend a warm welcome to my new Bijoux sponsors for this month, the wonderful Hannah Mia Photography (keep an eye out for some of her work being featured very soon!) and pre-loved wedding marketplace Sell My Wedding, who you can read all about in my post here.  Welcome :)

I’ve got a pretty forties-inspired shoot to share with you today, from Kent-based photographer Heline Bekker.  The fashions of this era are instantly recognisable, the after effects of the war and rationing created a simpler style due to lack of budget and resources.  At this time weddings were spontanteous affairs, the relief of loved ones returning home, and the desire for things to return to ‘normal’ meant that they were often planned on short time scales, with minimal budgets.  Today, capturing this spirit of love and simplicity would make the perfect inspiration for an intimate wedding.

Heline spotted this classic dress on eBay months before the shoot, knowing that one day she would find the perfect model and location to create beautiful inspiration images.  I love the clean silhouette, and the ruched chiffon sleeves teamed with strings of pearls to create a simple, but none the less elegant look. Her model Siobhan has a classic forties English Rose look, demure and seemingly lost in her own thoughts, perhaps longing to marry her lover recently returning from the battlefields.

A big thank you to Heline for sharing your work.  To see more recent weddings & shoots, head over to her blog.

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
