love shoot #64: ethereal boho engagement shoot {heidi & casey}

Morning lovelies!

When you lovely ladies get in touch with me, it makes my day!  So when bride to be Heidi got in touch with me to share her enagagement shoot all the way from Nashville USA, you can imagine my excitement!  Heidi discovered Bijoux Bride though wedding gallery Wedding Gawker, if you haven’t already discovered this amazing source of inspiration I suggest you go now. Well, not right now, please stay and enjoy this post first :)

Heidi and her fiance Casey are both artists, creative and unconventional.  They are planning a low key, DIY wedding next year on her parents farm, with all their family members helping to prepare for the big day.  Their engagement shoot, by close friend and photographer Melissa Madison Fuller is natural and ethereal, with the glowing sunlight and a laid-back, boho style.

Heidi told me a little bit of their story ~

Casey and I both live in Nashville, Tennessee. He is a painter/artist and I am a singer/songwriter. We both have the whole ‘struggling artist’ thing in common!  We’ve been friends for years, we met at bonfire at a mutual friends’ party about three and a half years ago. We didn’t really get to know each other until we worked together at a coffee shop about 6 months later. We became very good friends at that point but both had significant others at the time, so it was never more than that. Once I no longer worked there, we still would meet up for coffee or drinks just to catch up and talk about art, life, the universe, etc. About ten months ago  we met up at a local coffee shop, like we’ve done many times before, however, this time was different, neither of us were in relationships. I remember the entire day before thinking “is this a date?…nooo….we’re just friends….but I’d be ok if it were a date…I wonder if he thinks it’s a date…he didn’t say anything about a date when we talked on the phone…but maybe it is…or it might not be at all…” I decided to ‘just be cool’ about it and let it be whatever it was going to be. We sat there for hours talking and laughing…no pressure…no awkwardness…none of those symptoms of a first date. We were so comfortable in each others’ company, I though, well if this isn’t a date, I’m going to be disappointed, because it’s the best date I’ve ever been on!

I remember him telling me, while we sat there drinking coffee and eating dinner, that he didn’t think he’d ever be getting married. Three months later he was singing a different tune. And when he asked me what I thought about it, I told him I had been thinking the very same thing. I’ve heard it all my life, and for the first time, believe it is true….when you know, you know. He’s my match. He’s equal parts my partner, best friend, and his own person.

We aren’t conventional folks…a big banner flying across the sky with the words ‘Heidi, will you marry me?’ isn’t really our style. We talked about it for a long time. Then when the time felt right, we went and picked out my pearl engagement ring. It’s been such a perfect, low key, creative, and exciting time deciding to take this step together, and beginning the process of planning our wedding day. I can’t wait for May 26th, and every day that follows.

I know it’s not a fairy tale story, but it’s real. And I like real. :)

You know what Heidi, with images as gorgeous and these, and a sweet story, so do I.  Thank you for sharing, and I can’t wait to hear all about your wedding day next year! Isn’t Heidi going to make the most beautiful bride?!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
