love shoot: a mediterranean dream {esther & oscar}
Hey lovely ladies! As a blanket of snow still covers most of the country, today I thought we’d bring a little Mediterranean sunshine to these pretty b.loved pages. This dreamy little anniversary shoot features blogging fave Esther from stylish wedding blog Belle & Chic (if you’re getting married in the Med, or just like pretty things, go check out her blog!!) and her husband Oscar who treated themselves on their fifth wedding anniversary with a celebratory shoot in the pretty coastal village of Cadaqués, Spain, where they had their first date. A dreamy little coastal spot, their shoot is made all the more magical with two photographic geniuses behind the lens, André Teixeira of Brancoprata and Miguel Varona. Their images are light, fresh and elegant and totally, totally dreamy, so needless to say I am overjoyed to share their work today!!
Here’s Esther with their story ~
My husband and I met while I was on an Erasmus exchange in Barcelona. During my stay, I did an internship and Oscar worked in the same office building. We shared the break room and our romance basically began in front of the vending machine! Four weeks after our first date it was clear to me that he was the one. Eight weeks after our first date we flew to Germany together and I introduced him to my family… and that was that. Over one and a half years we had a long distance relationship while I was finishing my degree in Frankfurt, but as soon as I had the diploma in my pocket, I packed up my things and moved to Barcelona. We got engaged the same year.
That was more than five years ago. We’ve been married for four years now and our little son, born almost exactly one year after our wedding, is three years old now (time really flies by). I had always dreamt of having an elegant country wedding in a Tuscan Villa. Although I didn’t quite make it to Italy, it got close enough: We got married 45 minutes outside of Barcelona in the Tuscan-style country house of a Catalan poet, built in the late 18th century. My infatuation with weddings and the Mediterranean life style led me to become a wedding blogger. With Belle & Chic – Stylish Mediterranean Weddings I am trying to promote weddings in beautiful Southern Europe and provide advice and inspiration for destination brides.
Cadaqués is a little coastal village with white houses and colourfully painted doors, a true Mediterranean gem, and a great place to have a destination wedding. The Spanish surrealist Salvador Dalí used to spent his summers there when he was younger, and it is said that he discovered modern painting in Cadaqués. When we had just started going out, my then-boyfriend/now-husband took me there on a mini vacation, showing me the beautiful area around Barcelona. We still cherish the memories of that first trip together, and it seemed fitting to go back to Cadaqués for our anniversary shoot almost 7 years later.
