love shoot: beauty & the beach {lucy & michael}

Hello lovelies! I do love a good beach shoot, especially when combined with a super sweet couple a stunning blue sky streaked with just a few white clouds and barely a sole in sight.  I love it even more when all of this comes together through the lens of incredible photographer Kat Hill, whose work I am over the moon to share today!  I love this lovely lady’s style, the way she plays with light and the beautiful clean simplicity of her images!  Lucy protests their story is not at all romantic, I disagree! I love that all her family were in on the surprise, that’s love!

We met in The Fez Club in Putney in 2005.  I found out his surname (Haggis) in the kebab shop!Courtship consisted of a lot of rugby watching and meeting Mike’s brilliant friends in Pubs around South west London.

The proposal had a few false starts ~

The lovely Mr Haggis was going to propose in Marrakech in 2011 in a hot air balloon but the hot air balloon man forgot to pick us up.  Then he was going to propose in Essouaira but my Grandmother died.  So he waited until their trip back to New Zealand for Christmas (I’m Kiwi) in December 2011.  The whole Armstrong family were in on it. Mum was on distraction duty with shopping, Dad was on chauffeur duty to get Mike into town and my two sisters were in charge of short listing a selection of stunt rings for Mike to propose with.

The actual proposal happened on 30th December.  It didn’t quite go to plan as despite being summer, the weather was cold, raining and blowing a southerly gale!  We went into town for coffee and cake after fish & chips with the family.  Wearing very special looking matching kagools, Mike then decided he wanted to go sightseeing in the rain and gale force winds.  We went to the top of the cable car to look at the ‘view’.  Mike then got down on one knee in a puddle and asked me to marry him with the stunt ring.  My first words were ‘are you serious?’.  Not something to question after waiting 6 1/2 years!!

Lucy and Michael married last weekend in a wonderful wintery wedding! I can’t wait to see their day!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
