love shoot: fearless bridal

This morning I’m thrilled to share with you the most amazing and unique shoot from the talent that is London wedding photographer Yolande de Vries.  With a background in fashion and reportage photography, her images have a strong, editorial style, that seem to jump of the page. Her style is perfect for quirky couples looking for an unobtrusive, journalistic style to their wedding photo’s.

Yolande has also recently added ‘Fearless Bridal’ shoots, a take on the Trash the Dress shoot to her list of services.  She explains the concept ~

“Fearless Bridal sessions, also known as Trash the Dress or Rock the Frock are one of my secret guilty pleasures. Call it as you may, it is the perfect opportunity  for a bride  to wear her wedding dress again and have a fun and individual photography session in location setting that contrasts her wedding day”

This afternoon we will be giving THREE brides the opportunity to win their own Fearless Bridal shoot with Yolande, we’re also throwing in a hair stylist & makeup artist to make you look your best, and inspiration and styling from yours truly!  Pop back this afternoon for all the info on how to enter, but for now here’s a little more about what you can expect!

The gorgeous bride in these images is our very own Anneli Marinovich, who I am delighted to see in front of the camera for a change (Anneli is the awesome photographer behind last week’s Paris engagement shoot, and other gorgeous b.loved features!).

“I love for the bride to choose the type of location for the shoot, for Anneli’s session we found this secret abandoned factory and sneaked in one afternoon keeping a very low profile – we had perfect afternoon light and a lot of fun! Anneli’s french lace Pronovias dress took a bit of a beating in the brambles, but came out the other side completely untainted and without a single bit of damage, albeit dusty seams.”

Anneli told me a little bit about the shoot from her perspective ~

“I always knew I wanted to wear my wedding dress again after our wedding day in Dec 2009, so when Yolande (dear friend and fabulous photographer) suggested a Fearless Bridal Shoot late last year, I was over the moon with excitement! I started thinking about what exactly I wanted to do for my Fearless Bridal Shoot and instantly knew that it would be very different from the setting we had for our very pretty seaside wedding in Cape Town (check it out here, it’s simply breathtaking!)”

“Yolande and I both liked the idea of contrasting my soft, french lace Pronovias wedding dress with a secret location – hidden away &  derelict and the location we found was perfect! It was awesome wearing my dress again and really having fun with it – not worrying that it would get dirty (as most brides do on the wedding day) and I have to say, the lace was incredibly tough – I got caught in brambles a few times, hopped on to a fence and even lay down on a cement platform, and not one single tear! Yolande was very easy to work with and I was relaxed & comfortable being photographed while we chatted away (quite a surprise seeing that I usually prefer being behind the camera instead). A big thank you to Yolande for capturing my love for my wedding dress in such an awesome setting and for being completely fearless in her creative approach to the shoot. I would recommend a Fearless Bridal Shoot with Yolande to any and all brides!”

Are you ready for your very own Fearless Bridal shoot?  Remember, we’re giving away THREE sessions, so there’s a great chance you could win! Check back around 2pm when we’ll be sharing all the details on how to enter!
