love shoot: out of the blue {melanie & thinus)

Good morning my loves!

I’m so happy to share Melanie & Thinus’ love shoot today, it’s so romantic on so many levels! First of all, the light and fresh photography by Cape Town photographer Charlene Schreuder is just what I need on a dismal winter’s day, the autumn colours just pop off the page and create a gorgeous warm glow.  Melanie & Thinus’ love story is super cute – proof that sometimes your friends really do know best!  But you know, my favourite part of their story is Thinus’ proposal with a bright blue Tanzanite!  A precious gem found only at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, it’s rarer than diamonds and a stone that means an awful lot to anyone with a connection to Africa, and also happens to be my favourite ;) Perfect!

Here’s Melanie with their story ~

We met through mutual friends on a random weekend BBQ on a wine farm in the heart of the Boland. Our friends (who were engaged at the time) tried their best to make the connection happen and at best we would become good friends. I was instantly attracted to the happy blonde guy standing across the room from me, somehow those mesmerizing grey-green eyes just captured my attention!

The idea of what should have been a “blind date” to the wedding of our friends, would ultimately end up in a year and a half of courting and lots of travelling. About 6 months later on a weekend to Mount Ceder, he finally popped the question in the middle of nowhere, with nature as our canvas & a bright blue Tanzanite as evidence!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
