love shoot: paint fight fun! {odette & martin}

Morning my b.loved’s!

I have such a FUN engagement shoot to share today!  When the images landed in my inbox from South African photographer Wesley Vorster I couldn’t help but giggle at every single colourful and happy image, I’m sure they’ll put a big smile on your face too!  Odette and Martin celebrated their engagement with a paint fight… what else?!  So creative and so much fun!!

Martin and I met six-and-a-half years ago during our first year of university in Potchefstroom, South Africa. We both sang in the university choir but didn’t really know each other: he thought I was a snob with too much attitude and I thought he was full of himself! A choir tour to the Cape a few months later quickly changed our opinions of each other (who knows – it must have been the fresh sea air or something) and we started dating. When Martin left to study in Johannesburg at the end of that year, we decided to take a break. A year later, Martin came back to Potchefstroom and we kind of just picked up where we left off and have been inseparable ever since :)

We got engaged in April 2012 at the end of a looooong road trip from Johannesburg to Mossel Bay. I had unknowingly spoiled every one of Martin’s plans to pop the question during a planned picnic on our way to Mossel Bay (which didn’t happen because I wanted to get to the sea as quickly as possible). When we eventually arrived at the coast, his Plan B for a sunset proposal on the beach also didn’t work out as family of mine who live in George insisted that we join them for dinner as we hadn’t seen them for some time. After an exhausting road trip and day, we eventually arrived in Mossel Bay where Martin just blurted out the big question. He couldn’t wait for the perfect moment anymore as the ring had been burning a hole in his pocket since 2a.m. that morning when our road trip started! We made up for the spoiled picnic and beach proposal by having a picnic breakfast on the beach the next morning while watching the sunrise.

Our wedding is going to be held on 20 October 2012 on the beach at Grootbrak in the Western Cape. After the beach ceremony, we are going to celebrate our marriage with all our family and friends at an open-air sea food restaurant that is also situated on the beach. It has a very laid-back feel to it and should provide us with an atmosphere where we can enjoy good food (in abundance) and wine in the company of our loved ones. We cannot wait!!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
