love shoot #33: modern jewel {mel & adam}

A rather subdued but relieved good morning here today folks, it seems London avoided any more trouble last night, but violence has spread to our other major towns & cities. I am sad that just 12 months before London hosts the Olympics, the world is looking in our direction for all the wrong reasons. One thing I know is that we will also show you our strong British spirit as we protect our communities and begin the clear up. We stand together.
With all that’s going on, I debated whether to post this wedding today, but then I realised we can’t and won’t be beaten by a senseless minority. So, this morning I have a pretty modern purple wedding to share today courtesty of the lovely Leela Bennett Photography. As an Augusta Jones bride myself, I’m super excited to have found another one! Bride Mel chose the striking Waverley, with it’s ruffled skirt and contrasting floral sash details that are so on trend for 2011 brides! Mel & Adam’s Tithe Barn wedding is full of elegant modern details, from the gorgeous purple and blue bouquets, to the stunning calla lily displays in the barn during the ceremony. I love the simple, but effective table plan, and that they decided to have not just one but two cakes (one chocolate, one cheese!)
We met in Fiji on Beach Comber Resort- 100 bunks in one room, Adam thought he would use the excuse he had bed bugs in his bunk as an opportunity to try his luck with me! He proposed on the Island of Gili Trawangan off the coast of Bali. After scouring the island for the perfect location and opportunity he was disappointed to find a nudist on the beach! Instead he proposed in the swimming pool of our luxurious villa – the perfect, simple and ‘us’ proposal

I always wanted to get married in a barn and when we visited the Tithe Barn it took our breathe away, it was the only venue we visited which we could really visualise our special day. Being surrounded by friends and family was really important to us, as well as good food, good entertainment and a free bar!
My dress was not at all what I was looking for! I wanted plain and simple with no lace. As most brides say, you know when you have found the one – I loved it on the hanger and felt like a princess once I tried it on…
Our theme was purple and FUN and we found most of our inspiration through the suppliers that made our day so special. The whole wedding felt very personal – celebrating with friends and family, plus our friends did the flowers, designed the stationery, made the cake, provided the favours. That made it the best day ever.

What was your first dance, and how did you choose the song?
Me & Mrs Jones – Classic and so apt as I married a Mr Jones!
Any advice for future brides & grooms?
It is the best day or your life, enjoy every minute of it as it only happens once. Brides, don’t do your corset up too tight!
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Jones, and thank you to Leela Bennett for submitting their pretty purple wedding!
