love shoot: springtime in paris ~ part 1 {kate & andy}

Today I am so unbelievably excited to share with you the most exciting (and epic) shoot ever! Yup, it’s finally time to let you see the magic we created in Paris!

Back in December 2011, as I was busy working on the rebrand of b.loved, and planning a little competition to introduce us to the world, I never, ever, expected the email that landed on my desk from friend and photographer Anneli Marinovich. Not only was she offering one lucky b.loved couple a free engagement shoot, but it was to take place in one of the most romantic cities in the world, Paris. And, she invited me along too to contribute a little bit of styling.

If I’m honest, choosing the winners of this amazing prize was a daunting thought.  But Kate’s entry won both Anneli & my hearts, and we knew Kate & Andy were the most perfect choice ~

“Hello! I’ve been engaged for a whole week! Despite that we’re planning on getting Married this year July/August/Sept time, we’ve been together 5 years, so why wait? Been through some tough times recently (I won’t go into the details and make it sob story Xfactory! bleurgh!) but getting engaged has ended our year on a high! We’re already decided it’s going to incorporate our love of Black & White Films, Rock ‘n’ Roll and Books (somehow!!!)In 5 years we have all of 4/5 photos of us together, when we got our engaged ‘status’ on Facebook it showed a picture of our legs, our Christmas shopping and of course my beautiful engagement ring – so guess what I’d love to win, (especially after watching Midnight in Paris recently and promising to go there), the Shoot in Paris! It would be great to have photo’s we could integrate into our invites, and even our Wedding programmes! Sorry that’s so long and rambling!! Just very excited! xx”

After meeting up with Kate, and hearing a little more of her story, we began putting together some ideas for the shoot incorporating Kate & Andy’s personalities, love of books, film and cinema.  It quickly turned into a three day extravaganza, with one gorgeous couple, two amazing photographers (Anneli’s husband came along to second shoot) a stylist, and a glamorous assistant (the wonderful Mr B who insisted on carrying around Kate’s bag, coat, shoes & brolly when they needed to be out of shot!)  We also had some very lovely suppliers lend outfits and props for the shoot (although I think they were a little disappointed not to be joining their products on a little trip across the Channel!) from Victoria Mary Vintage, Maids to Measure, Love Umbrellas, Victoria Fergusson, Upper Street Shoes and Twobirds Bridesmaid!

There are so many photo’s to choose from, Anneli and I have decided to post this shoot in THREE epic parts (with part 2 & 3 coming up on Thursday!).  We begin our journey on the Eurostar, followed by a wander around the trendy Latin Quarter taking in quirky bookstores and old cinemas ~

After a quick change, Kate and Andy transformed into glamorous city-dwellers, ready for a night out in the city of lights.  With Kate wearing a stunning red wrap dress from Twobirds, and Andy looking dapper in his suit, we wandered along the River Seine to the iconic Eiffel Tower (drawing quite a crowd!)

I think you’ll agree Kate & Andy are totally gorgeous! We had so much fun, and this was just the first day of the shoot!  Hop over to Anneli’s blog today to see her take on this part of the shoot, and check back again on Thursday when we have a gorgeous two-part post, and a little more of Kate & Andy’s story to share with you!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
