Lovers at Knockwood: The Ultimate Tipi Wedding

You’d have thought that lockdown would put a stop to beautiful, traditional wedding ceremonies, but, if there’s one thing that 2020 has shown us, it’s that our supplier teams are an unbelievably creative bunch. Just check out this ultimate tipi wedding shoot!

We’ve always adored an outdoor wedding. There’s just something so magical and authentic about tying the knot under the stars. Even in the winter months, an outdoor ceremony can still be just as luxurious as one held indoors (plus, it makes a great way to have the dreamy wedding you’d been envisioning, while complying with COVID safety regulations).

Rather than being put off by the approaching chillier nights, this styled wedding shoot embraced the cold, and put on an outdoor wedding that took inspiration from the concept of glamping, and brought it to an entirely new level with this luxe tipi wedding.

Jess and James certainly brought their own, signature style to their ceremony. In every element of the day, the chic boho aesthetic, with a modern twist, was apparent.

It just goes to show that, even within the madness of 2020, there is so much beauty that can be created in an intimate tipi wedding. Plus, in these independent ceremonies the level of personality and detailing is entirely up to you. With a bit of creativity, you’ve got a plethora of wedding décor available at your fingertips (and with a far larger budget to bring your dreams to life!).

For example, a big part of the personal ethos behind this particular wedding was keeping things eco-friendly. You can see here how the environment was made a priority in a way that was very subtle—you’d hardly miss the single-use plastics at the ceremony, especially if you weren’t looking for them.

Being able to apply this conscious mindset was very important to the planners behind this shoot. They made creative environmentally responsible decisions like using dried flowers, opting for vegan and cruelty-free hair and makeup products and tools, and hiring out props, which can easily be re-styled and re-used.

At this ceremony, the design team did a fantastic job of making the outdoor setting snug.

They went for a beautiful, cosy set up, and applied a natural base colour within their set and their choice of florals. The use of neutral pampas grass and dried flowers were tasteful, understated, and made for a great bang-on-trend winter bouquet.

Then, little bold accents of colour were woven into the décor and table design with the addition of rich navy and warm orange hues.

Knockwood was a stunning choice of venue—the rolling hills and endless stretches of fields added to that sense of intimacy and romance.

This setting was equipped for the ceremony by adding in a few essential creature comforts, which did not look in any way jarring against the natural landscape. In keeping with the modern boho vibe, the services of Life’s A Pitch and Anthology Vintage Hire to make the outdoors comfortable, stylish and practical, all while staying true to the unique character of this spectacular tipi ceremony design.

  • We adore this wintery reinvention of a boho aesthetic—outdoor chic can be a style choice all year round.
  • Dried flowers have been a big trend of late, and they make a wonderful (not to mention an eco-friendly) addition to a winter bouquet or table decoration.
  • The additions of blues and burnt orange to the colour palette were the perfect balance of bold without being overpowering.
