Sentimental Destination Micro-Wedding in North Carolina
Every detail, vendor and activity connected with Eric and Carli’s wedding was sentimental to them in some way. They chose to marry in Asheville, North Carolina, where the couple met in college.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple decided on a micro wedding attended only by immediate family who drove across the U.S. to attend this celebration. Micro weddings retain the structure of traditional weddings, but are executed on a smaller scale. In addition to being safety-conscious, as compared with traditional weddings, micro weddings are more affordable and allow brides and grooms to spend more quality time with their guests. Eric and Carli connected virtually with family and friends to share their special day. Virtual weddings are another byproduct of the present pandemic—read more about the virtual wedding trend here.
The couple held their ceremony at Hidden River, which was followed by a champagne reception. Their niece made an adorable flower girl and their nephew made a handsome ring bearer—pictured with their sweet “ring for a kiss” bells. The couple’s new puppy, Cola, was the dog of honour.
The bride made sure to have something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue within her jewellery and dress. She wore a gorgeous birdcage veil from Twigs & Honey.
The celebration continued at Applewood Manor with a reception that included delicious food featuring ingredients from Chef Zachary’s garden. This beautiful wedding was captured by Kara Cooper, a boutique portrait and wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. Eric first contacted Kara to set up a shoot for their surprise sunrise proposal in Oregon. After that magical shoot, they chose Kara as the photographer for their gorgeous destination micro-wedding.
