Golf-Lovers’ Minimalist South African Wedding
The Story: Pro-golfer, Petrus, chose to marry his highschool sweetheart, Stefany, at a venue where they could celebrate the natural beauty of their native South Africa and his love of golf!
The Location: Smitsfield Farm, South Africa. This one-of-a-kind, award-winning venue is full of gorgeous architectural details. This includes the fifteen luxuriously renovated rooms on the property which have been fitted out inside old wooden railway carriages. The bridal suite which is renovated from an old cargo coach from the Victorian era. The property is a family run business located on the Vaal River offering stunning vistas studded with majestic oak trees.
The Vibe: Minimalist countryside wedding focusing on nature complemented by a white and green colour palette. As the venue was such a unique location, they focused on a natural, timeless and minimalistic look to let the venue shine. The couple wed in the on-site chapel which was built in 1924.
The Details: The floral design carried through the “theme” of natural and minimalist beauty making use of different types of greenery such as herbaceous eucalyptus leaves. Daisies were used throughout the wedding venue as they are Stefany’s favourite flower and to also symbolise the couple’s beloved pup, “Daisy”, who walked down the aisle with Stefany’s sister and was the ring bearer,

- The food was one of the standout elements of this wedding which all the guests raved about. Remember to take the time to sit down and eat and enjoy your wedding meal. So many couples completely miss out on enjoying the incredible food at their own wedding.
- Petrus and Stefany really enjoyed the space their venue provided for a dance floor. Their advice to other couples, “Be the last ones on the dance floor as this is your one and only wedding night”.
