Effortlessly Modern, All-American Wedding
The Love Story: Laura Beth and Trevor go all the way back to high school. They were reacquainted at college by a mutual friend but by the time Trevod worked up the courage to ask Laura Beth out she’d moved across the pond to London. They dated long-distance but eventually found their way back together in Durham, North Carolina.
The Location: Laura Beth and Trevor wanted a venue that would support their local community. Both have a love of modern art, and the Emporium in Knoxville. It was a museum date-night spot for the couple in college, so it was an easy choice.
The Look: A classic Southern Fall wedding. The seasonally inspired colour palette featured burgundy, light pink, and leafy green. The venue was decorated with handmade features, including painted canvases, dessert signs and a guest book. As a pair of coffee lovers, the couple also made their own personalised favours—jars of chocolate-covered coffee beans.
The Vibe: Laura Beth and Trevor knew exactly what they wanted, and they went for it. They kept the vibe and style of the wedding true to them by including some of their favourite things. They each picked three things that they wanted to splurge on. This included their photographer, Amanda May Photos, dessert, writing their own vows, and installing a coffee bar.
- Choosing three elements to focus on in advance was a great help.
- Trust your vendors. Let them share their expertise with you.
- The flowers were handmade by the bride’s mother. They are sola wood hand-dyed to match the colours of the bridesmaid dresses. These natural touches added a lot of greenery and life to the urban museum.
