modern classic wedding inspiration

Simplicity; a buzz word in the world of weddings for 2015! Brides are looking for uncluttered, unfussy up-to-date wedding day looks that will be as classic today as they will in 10, 20 or even 50 year’s time.  There are so many ways to interpret this ‘modern classic’ look, from elegant lace gowns and the softest blush blooms to sleek silhouettes and minimal florals, but one thing they all have in common is simplicity.  Today’s inspiration shoot from a team of luxury London-based suppliers, including Julie Michaelsen Photography, Holden Bespoke and Bluesky Flowers, combines elegant luxury with a new pared-back look.

From photographer Julie –

In a wedding industry which has for some time now been heavily influenced by the vintage bohemian look, we wanted to create something a bit different!  This styled shoot was created with modern luxury as the key theme. We wanted to create imagery which was elegant, serene, calm, and classically beautiful within the context of a contemporary Holland Park location. This shoot was about pared-back luxury, stripped back modern and cool elegance, for the bride who would rather wear a tiara than flowers in her hair and would rather wear Jimmy Choos than go barefoot.

We decided that the core colours should be white, creams, silvers and dove greys with a hint of blush, as well as a fresh inclusion of succulent greens provided by the beautiful floral arrangements excellently executed by Liz from Blue Sky Flowers. We wanted the table setting to represent the luxurious theme whilst still being approachable and un-fussy, achieved with a simple napkin and minimal detailing.  Laura from Holden Bespoke was instrumental in bringing this look together, she immediately understood the modern luxury theme to bring the looks.

The stationery was made by Rose and Ruby Paper Co, her classic and ornate designs were offset by the contemporary setting of the location but were still in keeping with a feminine aesthetic without being dated.  Liz from Sylvia’s Kitchen created a bespoke cake with a hint of the traditional cleverly merged with a clean and simple finish. The hand cut silver leaf florals, piped foliage detail was nod to the feminine aspect which was a key theme in our desired look.

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
