our wedding: you & me {part three}

Good morning lovelies, I hope you are ready because I’m jumping straight back into our wedding this morning!  If you missed it, check out part one and part two!

After the ceremony, we had a little while to spend with our guests, grab a glass of champagne and soak up the African atmosphere created by our wonderful marimba band.  I wish I could pipe sounds straight to you right now, instead check out some of their music here.  We really appreciated this time to say hi to our friends and families, some who we hadn’t seen in a while, so there was lots of catching up to do!

I wanted our guests to feel looked after while we went off for our couple shoot, so we set up some lounge seating and a bar in the shady garden and served a peach bellini cocktail and canapé’s whilst the sounds of the marimba’s and laughter filled the air.

I love these images of my mum and our flower girl using the parasols.

Every detail of our day was so carefully considered.  The champagne used throughout the day, Suikerbossie MCC, is made by young winemakers Boer & Brit, based near Stellenbosch.  Brought together by the unique history of South Africa, these lovely guys make the best wine and champagne.  One of Afrikaans and one of British descent, they were a perfect match for us. And their wine and champagne ‘Suikerbossie’ just has the sweetest little love story to go with it, read about it here.

As our guests sipped champagne, we disappeared with Christine to take some pictures around the venue.  This was a really lovely, quiet time for Andre and I to reflect on our marriage and spend some time just being in love.  About half way through our shoot, Christine started getting really excited about the light!  Photographer’s love what they call ‘the golden hour’, which is actually about 30 minutes before sunset, where you get this gorgeous, soft, glowing light which creates a beautiful atmosphere to these shots.

I just love this shot of my veil!

Part Four is on its way… check back this afternoon for all my DIY details!

Footnote: In 2015, I separated from my husband, Andre.  Now living alone in London, I’m enjoying life as a thirty-something single, running B.LOVED and travelling around the globe with friends.  I will always look back on my wedding day with fondness, without it I would never become a part of the amazing community of entrepreneurs I now get to call friends! Oh, and I’m still as in love with the love, romance and pretty of weddings as ever!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
