Painting Inspired Wedding with Artisan Details

If you consider yourself an artist or creative you’re going to LOVE this painting inspired wedding shoot  by Kathy Beaver Photography and Kat Warner as much as we did when it first landed in our inbox!

Created by a team of local artisans there are a whole host of handmade details to admire, from the stunning painted ceremony backdrop, to the custom designed stationery and hand-painted wedding cake.

It’s like stepping into an impressionist masterpiece!

Our painting inspired wedding shoot was inspired by the fine art painter Lucy Reiser’s work and the eight foot painting that she created as our ceremony centrepiece. This shoot began with the question of how we incorporate and invest in the fine arts through weddings. We wanted to see how many ways we could incorporate the fine arts in the shoot and included as many local artists and artisans as possible.  We started with a truly unique, one of a kind backdrop that could also be kept and used in a couple’s home. This lead to the commission of a large scale painting by Lucy. For this design, the ceremony backdrop mimicked the stunning views from The Greystone Inn, which is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Floressence Flowers framed our custom fine art ceremony backdrop with a large, organic floral installation that perfectly complimented the impressionistic colors dancing within the painting. The largest locally sourced flowers in the installation floated in the breeze, mimicking the water behind them.   The bridal bouquet was organic and lively.  The table centerpieces added a beautiful splash of color and additional texture to the tablescape.

We included a large scale custom fine art painting for the ceremony backdrop, handpainted menus for the table settings, a handpainted three-tiered cake, bespoke wedding gown, custom artisan wedding bands, handpainted invitations with wedding map, live music, and live fine art painting. Our bride wears a bespoke wedding gown by local designer Angela Kim Couture.

Serena, the owner of Sugar Cloud Co., light up with inspiration the moment I handed her the draft of the ceremony backdrop. She immediately began hand-painting the pristine white cake in front of her. The result was truly a work of art.

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
