Desert Island Dreaming
Following my trip to the dreamy Palm Island Resort earlier this year, we created a feature series such as ‘How to Plan an Island Destination Wedding’ and behind the scenes on the Island with ‘A touch of Luxe at Palm Island’ as well as ‘5 Tips for Your Honeymoon Couples Spa’ – BLISS! You can see my vision for a a desert island wedding with palm leaves and hints of coral pink here, and today B.LOVED Editor Catharine shares her vision for the perfect Palm Island Wedding!
“A desert island wedding absolutely has to be about the ocean, the sandy beach and coastal vistas – but I wanted to show how you can create a wedding oozing with sophisticated and an elegance and not necessarily your typical beach themed wedding! For this I looked at textures – and this is one of Louise’s favourite wedding trends which doesn’t date too. ( You can read her feature all about using Texture here too. ) It’s a vision of soft silks billowing ever so slightly with the sea breeze, and swathes of silk table runners gathering in the sand. Interesting shells of various textures from smooth mother of pearl to coarse ridges, used as decorations throughout the table design and even as condiment bowls for salt and garnishes! You can use candles creatively from elegant candlesticks to these beautiful hanging Moroccan lanterns or driftwood lanterns – you can be as simple and sophisticated as you like or make a real statement!”
