Phoebe & Gavin’s Creative Coral Wedding {Part 1}

I am beyond excited about this week’s real wedding, and I know I say that A.Lot.  But really, Phoebe & Gavin’s wedding was made for b.loved!  It features; an über creative bride who not only made her own dress but actually sells her own designs on Etsy, a super stylish groom rocking a Burberry suit, an abundance of peonies, a stunning coral, pink & yellow palette, lashings of DIY details and lots of ribbons!  On top of it all, their day was captured by one of my absolute favourite ladies, Charlie from CKB Photography, whose film photography is just exquisite and perfectly suits the day with pops of colour and a romantic hazy feel.  There is nothing I don’t love about this day, and so we have another 2-part Wednesday!

Here’s gorgeous bride Phoebe with all the details ~

We knew of each other through mutual friends but it wasn’t until a few years later when we were both single Gavin saw me with a friend in town and I got home to find a message from him online asking me for a date, eventually I agreed and almost a year later on is birthday he surprised me with the proposal!! We were just at home when he did it as he already thought I knew he was going to do it (I didn’t) so he wanted to keep it really low key and completely out of the blue! We went out that evening to what I thought was a birthday dinner for him to celebrate with our parents.

We got married at Norwood Park in Southwell, Nottingham. We live in the Midlands, as do the majority of our family so it was important to us that our venue was easy for people to travel to. When we found Norwood Park we knew it was the one, the first time I set foot in the ceremony room I welled up! It was the first venue we’d seen that wasn’t going to overshadow our day with outlandish carpets and dark wallpaper! All the rooms were light and enough of a blank canvas for us to put our stamp on the place without it lacking in character.

I am a designer and make bespoke wedding dresses, so I knew from the minute Gavin proposed I would be making my own dress, or three!! The dress I wore on the day was the last one I made! I had originally made a bustier for the day and planned to change into the lace top at night, but I just felt so much more comfortable and myself in the lace top that I wore that all day instead.  I’m so pleased I did, Gavin loved it, he especially liked that my skirt had pockets! The lace for the top was recycled and acted as my something old. The skirt was made from layers of delicate silk tulle and silk georgette.  My shoes were from Zara.  Gavin wanted to buy me some designer shoes as a present for the big day, but despite looking I couldn’t find any that I liked more than the Zara pair! I customised them with a blue Swarovski crystal and Gavin’s initials inside the heel.

I decided very early on that I was going to do my make up how I usually do, with just a little more time and care!! I wanted to look like myself on the day, and as I wear very little make up I knew I wouldn’t feel right if someone else did it. My hair was pinned into a loose bun a matter of minutes before the ceremony by one of my bridesmaids.  My bridesmaids and I all wore gold bumble bee grips in our hair as I love bumble bee’s, they were from Elizabeth Perry Collections on Etsy.

The groomsmen were easy, once Gavin’s suit was made (bespoke Burberry) their only brief was to find something grey!! We had never planned to have everyone matching, its just not our style, the same went for the bridesmaids, they each chose a dress they liked based on the colours we’d picked. Everyone tied together with black sashes, shoes and ties.
