Pink Love Notes: Bridal Boudoir Session
For this bridal boudoir session, Alexandra Jo used ethereal boudoir looks accented by a mix of real and faux pink florals to allude to the sweet, romantic innocence of new love.
The desired look was sweet, sultry, but also fresh with a hint of innocence. This aesthetic was achieved through delicate handmade wedding stationery combined with the perfect mix of exquisite lingerie and whimsical, romantic florals. The lingerie consists of handmade, delicate sets with detailed lace and sheer fabrics with sequins. The hair and makeup was kept natural to showcase the model’s natural features and beauty.
One Bride, Four Lingerie Looks
Our bride chose four different bridal lingerie looks. In her first look, she chose a beautiful, yet practical underwire lace bralette and panty set that, if packed for a honeymoon, could be worn under clothing. We added a cathedral length lace robe to up the glamour. For her second look, she chose a sheer nude set with rhinestones scattered over the bra and garter. For her third look, she selected a delicate pink eyelash lace, long sleeve bodysuit. The plunging neckline and high cut leg is flattering on most body types and is an elegant, yet sexy option for your honeymoon lingerie. For her fourth and final look, she wore a sheer, white bridal peignoir (a sheer dress that is perfect for lounging in). The plunging neckline features an inset of chiffon with tiny hand-sewn sequins and beads for an added feminine touch.
The Designer’s Tips
The designer of these gorgeous intimates, Alexandra Jo, shared her expert tips with B.LOVED on how to choose lingerie for your honeymoon:
- 1. Pick a colour you love. Traditional wedding colours, such as ivory, white, and blues, are perfect for your wedding night lingerie, but don’t feel restricted to only these colours. Consider picking some sets that keep with the theme of your bridal style, but don’t feel constrained by it. If you love pink or black, go for it. Be willing to explore and be open to different cuts and designs that you might not normally wear.
- 2. Bring a special look for each night. Delicate lingerie doesn’t take up much room, so pack a special set or piece for each night. There are many options that are pretty, sexy, and functional! Try a comfy, but beautiful bralette and panty set, a robe that makes you feel glamorous, or a sheer lace pyjama set. If functional lingerie pieces are in your comfort zone, this is a great time to spurge on a fun set that you would not normally buy. If you are on the fence about buying lingerie, try a bridal peignoir for a lovely in-between.
- 3. Custom Lingerie. What better time than your wedding to finally have lingerie tailor made for you! Most lingerie comes in set sizes, but custom lingerie will fit in ways you couldn’t imagine and it is perfect if your size differs from the norm. If you are interested in a custom lingerie look for your wedding or honeymoon, try smaller bridal lingerie boutiques (such as Atelier 1904) or Etsy for lingerie that can be made custom to your measurements. Keep in mind that custom-made sets can take time, so be sure to do this early enough to receive it in time for your wedding.
