The days of a peach colour palette evoking memories of a distant eighties wedding nightmares are long gone. Pastel peach is the perfect palette for a classic romantic wedding. Today’s real wedding has plenty of peach and plenty of perfection.

Pauline and Daan’s day was styled by the bride herself, and attention to detail was certainly the name of the game. From the candles, to the floral details, to the tea lights. Every little detail really sparkles.

The day was beautifully captured by Anouschka Rokebrand Photography.

Love story

In January 2012 I met the love of my life at an athletics club. I had just started training for the marathon of New York, he was busy training for the Rotterdam marathon.

It was love at second sight. We knew each other back in the day but our lives were so very different then. When we met again it felt right instantly.

We moved in together just 2 weeks later and we ran the marathon of New York together.

In November 2014 we travelled to Singapore and decided on a weekend trip to Indonesia. During this incredibly romantic weekend, he proposed and I said YES!

The fun of planning started right away for me. I had soon envisioned the style and colours I wanted to go for. My husband gave me free reign so I could plan away.

What I enjoyed most of all was the decorations and I went all out with those.

All the decorations, from small vases to candlesticks to chairs to trees with tea lights, I gathered everything myself. Since I’m a flight attendant, I get to shop all over the world and used that opportunity to the fullest.

Our venue, Het Heerenhuys, was our first choice. It’s a beautiful rural location but is located right in the heart of the city of Rotterdam. The city where we were both born and raised.

The Day

The weather was amazing on our wedding day and so we could make the decision to have an outdoor ceremony. It was so beautiful.

After the ceremony our guests showered us with mini pompons that were packaged in DIY bags which had the lyrics to Frank Sinatra’s New York printed on. We picked those lyrics since this song is played when the marathon of New York starts.

During the reception we had prosecco with images of us in the glasses. This was a surprise for us since our masters of ceremony had arranged for those.

Most memorable moment

During the reception my brother did an incredibly special speech. He managed to translate missing our father, who is unfortunately no longer with us, in such a beautiful and special way. That would also be one of my most precious moments of the day.

We had the best time. The atmosphere was amazing, the guests were wonderful, the food and drinks were incredible. It was a day to remember for a lifetime!

Advice for other brides

Ensure you have people coordinating the day who get you completely and speak the same language, their advice and help made our day complete.
