real wedding: a pastel-hued romance part 1 {melanie & thinus}
As promised, for our love-filled week, I’m sharing one of the most romantic weddings of all time on b.loved. You might remember Melanie and Thinus from their autumnal engagement shoot a few weeks ago? Well, this is their completely gorgeous wedding, from heartfelt proposal to Mediterranean-inspired romance. It’s full of so many beautiful details I actually don’t know where to start! I adore Melanie’s vintage-inspired one shoulder gown, her lace veil and her beautiful smile. Thinus’ look of pure adoration at his bride makes me smile. The flowers are incredible, the freshest peonies, roses and lilies (no easy task in Cape Town heat). The thoughtful and stylish details, from the boutonnières to the dessert table laden with family made treats and set against big blue balloons. The polka dot dance floor, where their guests danced the night away. I love the colour palette, sweet and romantic pastel hues which suit the serene and calm personalities of this bride and groom so perfectly, and the odd hint of brilliant blue, a reminder of Melanie’s beautiful blue tanzanite engagment ring (read the proposal story here).
To add to my excitement, their day was captured by Charlene Schreuder, a photographer with creativity and style in her blood. She not only captures the mood and details of this wedding beautifully, but the pure, raw emotion. Sublime.
Melanie shares their wedding day fairytale ~
My wedding dress was made by Elizabeth Stockenström and captured the vintage glamour of the 1940’s. It had the most delicate white ivory lace on the bodice with off-white mini pearl details and small Swarovski crystals on the front of my dress. The netting at the bottom of the dress almost had a Spanish influence, as the mermaid skirt was full of off-white, ivory & stone tulle. My veil reminded me of a Spanish mantilla and was done so exquisitely, that it definitely captured the sacred atmosphere of our wedding ceremony. The bridesmaids all wore turquoise dresses in different designs, similar jewellery & shoes to tie everything together.
The guys were immaculately dressed in their black suits and white shirts, the best men didn’t wear jackets and opted for a pair of braces instead. The groom & groomsmen all wore custom-made boutonnières from Fie & Feen, which differed from a small laser cut wine barrel for the groom to vine leaves with our wedding date for the groomsmen.
Loving what you’ve seen so far? Check back this afternoon when I’ll be sharing the amazing reception details in Part Two, and Melanie & Thinus’ brilliant wedding video.
Speechless! Almost like reading someone’s fairytale…except it’s OUR story! *happy tears* :)
