WEDDINGS

real wedding: country classic {lorraine & simon}

Morning b.loved brides! A gorgeous classic wedding to share with you today from the wonderful duo over at Blackbox Photography.  You’re just going to love bride Lorraine’s classic bridal look, and her bridesmaids dressed in gorgeously slinky mint green dresses.  With amazing rustic DIY touches, Lorraine & Simon’s day is full of beautiful inspiration from beginning to end.  No aspect of their day was left out, cute handmade touches decorated the church inside and out, just how adorable is the vintage bike with basket full of peonies? They even personalised a little milk urn with their names and wedding date, filling it with gorgeous summer blooms.  Lorraine’s Dad made tree trunk card holders, and multi-tiered cake stand which displayed a delicious array of home baked cakes. Amazing!

From Lorraine ~

We met at a disco when I was only 16 and he was 17.  Simon proposed to me on 5th April 2010 – we were nine years together then. First he asked my Dad’s permission, then went with his best friend to pick the ring and took me to Castle Leslie for the night and proposed.

My dress was purchased from Perfect Day in Lurgan. I fell in love with it as I always wanted to be a simple but classic bride. I ordered a second belt  and a local lady, Lorraine Marley made my head piece out of it. For the bridesmaid’s I choose a Pippa Middleton inspired dress in a light green.  Simon and the groomsmen chose navy suits.

I wanted to use pastel colours for my wedding colour theme – something soft and subtle with vintage touches.  I used wooden  for my place names, table names and cake stand which were all made by my Dad.  I made my own mass booklets, invitations, dinner menus and wedding favours which were our favourite songs on a CD for all the guests.  Our favourite part was definitely the speeches – we got to thank everyone who made our day so special and also laugh at all the stories and memories shared from our past.

What was your first dance, and how did you choose the song?

I LOVE Lionel Richie so much and our favourite song from when we met was ‘stuck on you’. So choosing our first dance song was very easy!

Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their wedding?

Plan well in advance and definitely get fully involved in all the preparations. If you are creative make your own bits as people do notice and love personal touches. Finally enjoy every moment!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
