real wedding: peaches & cream {gemma & christian}

Good morning ladies! Are you all enjoying the week so far?!

I’m sure you’ve all noticed that coral is one of my favourite colours, featuring in the b.loved branding and any number of inspiration boards! I love it for it’s bright and fresh summertime feeling, it’s feminine and pretty, and yet still bold.  I’m pretty sure today’s gorgeous real bride Gemma would agree, as she picked a stunning coral and peach palette for her pretty springtime wedding to Chris at Egypt Mill, Gloucestershire.  She wanted a subtle vintage theme, with lovely lace and butterfly details, and absolutely stunning choice of flowers in coral, pink, peach and ivory roses and ranunculus in her bouquet.  Thanks to the lovely Delia McDonagh for so beautifully capturing their day.

Here’s Gemma to tell us more ~

Chris and I met when his family visited our church.  I became friends with his sisters first, before we started going out.  We were in Venice for my birthday, and Chris had planned to propose on my birthday which was the Saturday. It was the Friday evening and we were talking in the hotel – he suddenly couldn’t wait, got up to get the ring in his bag, jumped on the bed and proposed!

My dress was one of the first ones I tried on. I knew I wanted something quite simple, but this one had little bits of detail which made it a bit more special. When I tried on other dresses I kept comparing it to ‘the one’, so I knew it had to be it.

It felt like we’d been searching for a venue for such a long time. We knew we wanted it to be outside of Bristol. When we visited Egypt Mill we had a good feeling about it. It was quaint and intimate and the place had character. We are so glad we did pick Egypt Mill because the staff were absolutely amazing on the day.

I looked through lots of inspiration boards online and loved the vintage look. Our colour scheme was peaches and cream, we wanted a pretty springtime wedding.  To keep costs down we did a lot of DIY, Chris’s family are very creative, his mum did all the flowers for the tables and sides and his sister created the table names, paper butterflies and the place names.

What was your first dance, and how did you choose the song?

Michael Bublé’s ‘Everything’. It was the perfect song because it wasn’t too serious or too cheesy, it was just ‘us’.

Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their wedding?

Take help from friends and family. Also, even though everyone told me, I still didn’t really listen – BUDGET. The money can just vanish with planning a wedding!
