real wedding: pretty lavender field wedding {katya & richard}

Good morning my loves! It’s such a pleasure to share a pretty real wedding today from lovely Anneli Marinovich!  Katya & Richard tied the knot in Surrey, combining their Russian and English traditions into their day.  They included photographs from their engagement shoot with Anneli as their table numbers as a really cute touch, as well as subtle references to their one-time home town, London.  On the way from the church to their reception they stopped for a few photographs in the prettiest lavender field, love love love these shots! What a lovely idea for your wedding day!

Over to Richard with their story~

Katya and I met at a bar on Sakhalin Island, May 2009. It was a leaving do for one of her colleagues and given that the bar is 30 meters from my front door and it was a Friday night, it was not surprising that I was there as well:-) We started talking about this and that and soon I learned that Katya would be on a business trip to the UK within a couple of months. I started giving her ‘sage’ advice and the rest followed…

I proposed to Katya in Dubai in August 2011. I enlisted the help of the hotel that we were staying in and they sent up a silver platter for room service on the last evening we were there. The silver platter was empty aside from the ring I had placed there earlier. Taking the platter out to Katya on the balcony, I suggested that she take a look inside. Then I got down on one knee and Katya graciously agreed to become Mrs. Landowski :-) Our honeymoon will also be in Dubai, perhaps we’ll go back to the hotel and ask if they remember the silver platter.

We wed on a glorious August day near London. It was great to combine Russian traditions with English ones. The sun beat down throughout, which perhaps isn’t an English tradition! We had something of a London theme given that it is a city close to both of our hearts. Our car was a black taxi driven by my brother whilst a vintage London bus carried our guests to and from the church. The table plan was based around our London engagement photo shoot by Anneli, and guests were encouraged to drop wedding cards into our imitation London postbox made by a friend in Sakhalin. The wedding took an incredible amount of planning, but we had just one regret – that it wasn’t longer!
