real wedding: understated elegance {sandra & joao}

Morning lovelies!

Ok, today I have a confession to make! Usually I am super organised with my blogging schedule and have weddings lined up weeks in advance. Until this weekend when I sat down to prepare this weeks posts and I found myself with no real wedding feature for this week! I have lots of lovely things lined up to share, but they’re not quite ready yet… but never fear my b.loved’s, because what should land in my inbox literally that very minute, but a BEAUT of a wedding from amazing Portuguese wedding duo, Sofia and Andre of BrancoPrata. Seriously these guys don’t even need to ask for a feature ‘cos it’s pretty much guaranteed I will love whatever  they send me. Pretty? Tick. Contemporary? Tick. Romantic? Tick tick!!  So a big thank you to to Sofia for sending this over at just the right time, otherwise I might just have had to reorganise my whole schedule anyway, just to share it as quickly as possible!

Things I love about Sandra and João’s wedding? The pure, understated elegance. White as white florals, in the most perfect combination of textures, and that amazing touch of blue. A totally gorgeous bride and groom, Sandra could not look more beautiful in her Pronovias gown, soft and romantic makeup and chic updo. Big love for those sparkly silver shoes! And the papergoods, seriously amazing details, designed by the talent that is BrancoPrata, and all  inspired by a cake topper!

Here’s all the lovely details from Sandra our gorgeous bride ~

João and I wanted our wedding to be a very personal reflection of us, inspired in the colours and flowers by the place we met – Terceira Island – and in the first thing we bought for the wedding, our cake topper. It was important for us that people left the wedding saying “that felt like Sandra and João.”

Getting ready in the morning of the wedding, I was excited and felt like a little girl playing dress-up with my friends, only to realize that this was, in fact, reality, and I was about to marry the man of my dreams. As I started getting ready, all those months of preparation had paid off, with everything planed just falling into place. Arriving at the church, I was nervous. With João waiting at the other end, I had to use all my will power not to run down the aisle to see him. This was that moment I had dreamed of and being surrounded by the love of our friends and family just made it so memorable.

The venue was so gorgeous that we needed very little decoration. I was quite strict about having a limited colour palette, white and blue. We wanted our flowers to look like somebody went in to Terceira and scooped up a handful of the typical greenery. Bit by bit, everything came together and those ideas turned to reality…

Since our wedding, we’ve often reflected upon how lucky we are. Our wedding day was total magic, and it was made possible thanks to the efforts of so many wonderful people. Our florist, Maria Neves of Quinta do Vale, crafted beautiful floral arrangements consistent with our theme, our amazing photographer, André Teixeira of BrancoPrata, brought beauty and life to every detail of our day, and the super talented Sofia Ferreira of BrancoPrata responsible for the Stationery and paper goods. Finally, our DJ,  João Magalhães, was just plain awesome. He definitely brought the party to life. From the first song to the last song, we never left the dance floor (and neither did most of our guests). But, most of all, we feel lucky to have met one another and so grateful to have been surrounded by such wonderful family and friends on our special day.

If you are ever in Portugal, please check these guys out! Perhaps a little engagement shoot in the sun?!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
