real wedding: vintage boho for a belle & bunty bride {suzi & sam}

Today’s wedding has got to be one of my all time favourites!  Suzi & Sam’s day is packed full of achievable and attainable inspiration and ideas, pretty details and creative personal touches.  Their day features a long list of my favourite suppliers, including my favourite Belle & Bunty dress “Belle”, pretty Emmy shoes and gorgeous baby blue BHLDN bridesmaids to name a few!  Their quintessentially English wedding, with a village church ceremony and garden marquee reception is brimming with relaxed vintage details and a whole heap of pretty!  Suzi’s modern and elegant Belle gown, teamed with the prettiest veil and headpiece, and paired with Sam’s suit and quirky floral tie (love it!), give them a relaxed boho look.  Just some of my favourite details are the individual peonies lining the aisle with tissue paper versions making super gorgeous place settings.  Funky DIY stationery, pretty paper lanterns strung from the marquee ceiling, and Suzi’s stunning bouquet of peonies, roses and dotted with fresh spring blooms is one of the prettiest I’ve seen!  Their day was captured by the very talented Rebecca of Rebecca Wedding Photography (who also happens to have the prettiest blog!)

Here’s Suzi with their lovely story ~

Sam and I met at work in 2004 and became good friends. After a year of relentless pursuing (Sam will hate me for saying that!) I finally succumbed to his charm and we have been together ever since!  A beach in the Florida Keys after an amazing birthday day made for the perfect proposal setting.

I really didn’t have an image of my perfect dress in my head when I set out on a days wedding dress shopping with mum, but when I entered the gorgeous Belle & Bunty shop and saw the Belle dress I knew it was the one! It was actually the very first dress I tried on! The feel of the satin was fab and when I saw the full length veil and spied the embellished satin flower headband, I knew I didn’t need to look any further. I felt like a bride!

We really wanted a relaxed feel to our day and after looking at a number of venues keep coming back to the same conclusion… There’s no place like home! My parents house where I grew up just felt like the perfect place for the most perfect of days and it really was. Having a marquee in the garden allowed us to do whatever we wanted and we were really able to put our own personal touches on everything. My favourite part of the day was walking down the aisle with my very proud dad with the sound of the bagpiper playing Flower of Scotlena and seeing all my friends and family squeezed into the tiny church! And of course setting eyes on my husband!

I really think everything about our day had a bit of our personal touch, I wanted to incorporate a bit of an afternoon theme to the day given that it was in a garden setting. From the invite and orders of service Sam and I designed ourselves, to the menu for the day which Brasteds allowed us to shape ourselves and of course the decorations within the marquee. I now have quick a knack for whipping up a tissue paper flower!

What was your first dance, and how did you choose the song?

We chose ‘I’m Yours’  by Jason Maraz, after much debate! We didn’t have a song as such but wanted something playful to dance too so it fitted the bill! I’ve still got the tune going round my head as we may have had one or two (or 6!) dance lessons to help us a little :)

Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their wedding?

Picking the right suppliers is key to ensuring both the planning and the day itself are relaxing and above else enjoyable. Do your research! Don’t think about the things you feel you’re ‘supposed’ to do in planning you’re big day. Just ensure that every detail says something about you both and you will ensure your big day is special.

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
