real wedding: vintage romance {riana & shaun}

It’s a bumper week for weddings on b.loved, as I’m sneaking in an extra one this week! When South African photographer Cheryl McEwan sent over the gorgeous Riana & Shaun’s pretty winelands wedding a few weeks ago I just couldn’t resist sharing it!  With a gorgeous white and pink colour palette, and gorgeous vintage touches their day just looks soooo romantic!  Full of super pretty details, gorgeous floral arrangements in mix match vintage containers, like teacups and pots and tied with ribbons and lace, this wedding is full of romance and, well, cuteness! And did I mention this couple are just gorgeous?

Over to Riana for their story~

We met at a friend’s get together about 7 years ago, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Was definitely love at first sight!! He proposed at a quaint little Italian restaurant in Steenberg on my 24th Birthday, it was so romantic!

We decided to get married at the beautiful Steenberg Golf Estate near Cape Town, the attraction was definitely the picturesque mountain views and romantic location.   The whole day was absolutely beautiful and unforgettable, really any girls dream come true, but if I could single out one moment it would be saying “I do” to the man of my dreams!!

 I absolutely love vintage!! So obviously vintage was the look I wanted for my dress, but with a sexy twist to it!!

Our theme was romantic, with a vintage feel with lots and lots of roses. Our entire wedding was basically a DIY Project!  My Maid of honour did the invitations, I made the bouquets and the ‘button-holes’ for the guys. Mom, myself and my Aunt did the décor at the reception (including all the flower arrangements!). Dad made the signage boards for the church and reception and hand-made the seating-plan board. We really tried to put a personal touch on every part of our special day.

What was your first dance, and how did you choose the song?

A slow dance to “I’ve Finally Found Someone”Barbara Streisand and Bryan Adams. I think the name of the song says it all :)

Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their wedding?

Start planning well in advance and remember to keep a TO DO list.  Invest in a good photographer and videographer, as your pictures and dvd will be all you have to remember your special day.  And finally, enjoy every minute!!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
