real wedding:a glamorous black & white winter wonderland {victoria & james}

Hello lovelies ! Are you all having a wonderful week? I’m super excited today! This evening I’ve been invited to David Fielden‘s London boutique to meet the team and view David’s stunning bridal collection.  Having seen the collection on the catwalk at The Luxury Wedding Show last year, I can’t wait to hear all about the inspirations behind the modern, yet feminine collection.  I’m bringing along super photographer Anneli Marinovich too, so in a few weeks we’ll be sharing an exclusive peek into the David Fielden experience.

Although spring has sprung, and I’m loving sharing some warm and pretty spring and summer inspiration with you, I know that some of you are busy planning weddings in cooler seasons.  The romance of a winter wedding shouldn’t be forgotten, and today’s glamorous winter wonderland wedding will show you just why!

I’m delighted to be sharing stunning images from Charley Smith again on b.loved, a master of creative, artistic couple shoots that you will absolutely love (remember this stunning French Chateau wedding by Charley I featured last year?!)

When a couple choose the same first dance song that I chose with my husband, I know they have great taste! With snow on the ground, the bride in her gorgeous snow white dress and glamorous winter cape, and the groom in sophisticated black tie this is truly a stylish winter fairytale wedding that does not disappoint!

Here’s the bride’s story ~

James and I met on his birthday in 2007. We hit it off straight away. I moved to Dubai four weeks later which was disastrous timing, but 6 months later James transferred with his job too and the rest is history!  We got engaged on safari in South Africa. We were staying at the Lion Sands Resort in Sabi Sands, part of Kruger National Park. After a long day of safari, James surprised me with a private dinner in our suite and then he got down on one knee.

We got married in the chapel at Hailybury College. This meant a lot to James as it is where he went to school. The reception was held at Brocket Hall. We liked it instantly as you take over the whole house. It feels like you are hosting your own wedding at home!  The church was incredible. As I walked down the aisle I saw all of the people that mean the most to me. We had the Hertfordshire Chorus singing and the organist was amazing. The florist had decorated the church in white flowers and there were glowing candles everywhere – this gave a lovely warm feeling as it was so cold and snowy outside!

Our theme was Winter Wonderland and amazingly we got snow. We live in Dubai where it is sunny all the time so we wanted the opposite. I am lucky in that a lot of my friends are currently getting married or are already married, so there was never a shortage of magazines. I always wanted a Winter Wonderland and I always knew I wanted black tie. My colours were black, white and sparkle which I think are simple and elegant.  All of the boys were in black tie which was very smart and the girls wore long dresses.  Planning from Dubai was difficult, but we had lots of help. Our surprise feature of the evening was a vodka luge shaped like the Burj Al Arab. We wanted a piece of Dubai in our day!

What was your first dance and how did you choose the song?

Bruno Mars ‘Just the Way you Are’. It means a lot as James played it when he proposed. He also sings it a lot to me.

Do you have any advice for future brides?

I front loaded lots of the preparation. That meant that when the day finally came around I wasn’t too stressed as I knew everything was in order. The most important thing is to enjoy the day and you can’t do that if you are stressed. Finally, nobody notices if small things go wrong, just roll with the day and have fun, it goes far too quickly!
